I think I'm registered at ACC now. I don't really know if taking classes after my degree will fluff my GPA or not, but it's worth a try. Actually, I've been looking at what is available over the summer at the closest campus and, given my druthers, I'd like to take Spanish I, Drawing I, Aikido, and Dance- Mid East.
Oh there's tons more I'd like to take, but those are the only ones that work with a full time work schedule that I'm really most interested in. Obviously, four classes would be a bit much. Plus I think a couple of those conflict with themselves. Decisions, decisions.
In order to raise my GPA to anything resembling acceptability, I'd have to take basically an entire second degree worth of classes. So what would I want to do? I am still digging on linguistics, but is it still computational or would UT be alright for some fluffy linguistics now that I'm old and slow?
ACC has 5 of the 9 languages I wanted to learn. It'd be pretty neat to learn a new language every year. Maybe overlap some advanced and some basic classes if I wanted to keep going. I still have this overwhelming need to be able to say that I understand Spanish instead of "Abre la ventana por favor," or "Mis pescas vivien en agua."
But, you need to practice languages to keep them. Sure, I can cease speaking to my mom in English. She'd play along even if she found it amusing. But, who will I get to speak Russian or German or French or Japanese with? Maybe I'll just stick with college level gym classes.
