Is there hope?

I am not sure the answer to such a question. Is there hope? I look around and watch the news. Why can't they find anything that is good to report on? It is so depressing watching the news because you see millions of people suffering and you never quite understand why they are and you are not. What makes them so different from you besides the clothes they wear and the their beliefs? They are still human beings that deserve respect and equal treatment. The United States is seen as the super power in the world, but this will be our downfall. In a hundred years who even knows if this world will exist? We are already in debt to our eyeballs, and can not even fix our own problems we must go and fix others. I understand that we are much better off then most, but we are far from the utopian, equal society our forefathers wanted for America. They never thought that everything had to be perfect, but how can we say that our country is successful when we have people are poor, without jobs or even worse without homes and health care. How can we say that we our successful when our education system is nearly crumbling and we are trying to cut farm subsidies that allow our farmers to farm? Life is far too complex for me to understand, however what I do understand is that as human beings there will always be chaos and war. Competition seems to plauge our minds causing chaos to form and often out of chaos evil forms. I am sorry to have such a pessimistic view, but right now that is how I feel. I have found that our education system is failing our young and there is nothing that I can do about it. I have not even yet to start teaching and I feel this way.
