Filling up the tanker didn't take Joshua that long, so he decided he might as well wrangle the last of the backyard storage tanks intended for customers into the attached trailer. While he had plenty of propane at hand, gasoline and diesel were relatively scarce, so coming back home with an empty trailer was not an acceptable option. The first one he had wrestled with had taken a lot of effort since it was supposed to be a two man job to move one of those, even when empty. However, having been an engineer in the Guard meant he had learned to build things to do stuff, however inelegant they looked. A block and tackle system made do for the missing man and let him load the empty tank in the trailer.
Joshua went back into the radio station. No one had called yet, but he would have been surprised if it had. After all, WBLR had never done that well in the ratings, he joked to himself. He picked up Thing 2 who had curled herself on a nice cushy leather chair. "I'm sorry," he apologized to the disgruntled cat, "but it's time to go." ( ... )
