As he ate, Joshua snorted at the incongruity of his eating a pair of microwaved frozen egg and steak breakfast burritos when fresh ingredients were available just outside. Not that he'd have been eating fresh eggs in any case. He needed breeding stock right now, so animals were too valuable to eat. Also, the chicken he had were all meat breed, White Cornish and White Rocks, so he figured the egg quality wasn't likely very good anyway.
Letting the chickens out of the improvised coop, and making certain the animals had enough feed and water to keep them content while he was gone didn't take long, so it was time to get ready to roll. He kept a loaded M-16 in each vehicle he had here. The vest and helmet he put on without a second thought, though he didn't bother with the rest of the battle dress. He wasn't worried about camouflage, he just wanted something in case he came across someone crazy enough to shoot first and ask questions later.
