October 11th Is Gonna Freeze Tonight

I don't like the way that Livejournal has progressed over the past few years, the layout of the site. It used to be simple and practical, and now the site seems obnoxious, asking me all these questions every time I log in: "What do you like to do with your iphone?" I don't even have a fucking iphone. Liberal arts culture, man. What have we done.

Getting cold here. Picked the rest of the peppers today when I got home from work. I feel sad when I see perfectly good and strong plants standing naked and bound within the ground, and over the hill across the valley storms a frost. I kissed one of the plants as I would a cat, curled on the bed by the heater.

What is new in the world? Everything used to feel so urban, and since I've left the city and come to this private spot, every urban notion seems distant and over-amplified. People have it wrong in the city, a number of them. It's not their fault; they just do not have the experience and the understanding of a rural life. But we can't all leave the city, and city folks do what they do just fine. They don't know how weak and dependent they are, and that ignorance suits them well. Some ignorance suits the world well. God, if the cities crumbled, what a sad day that would be... for the entire world.

Anyhow, I've been listening to a number of tracks by Lucas Ledford lately. And I get on Kompakt's website every now and then; you know, to taste my urban xylem, if you will.

But the country, the country, the space is where I breathe and via each breath flows the understanding of life. Each breath broadcasts colors and images that surely had gone forgotten at one time. I'm on a different planet.

"Always remember," he said, "the Universe is not out to get you."

How about this one: people aren't as smart as you think they are, but chance says they are smarter than you.

Anyhow, I hope you are well. Some of you, it's weird, I used to read your journal everyday, and so I learned a little about you, and some of you I've met and we've met and held conversations. Well, good for us!

Ciao.

Ps. Don't get me wrong. I'll prob move back to the city one of these days. You can only go so long around people who have never lived in the city. You know, Wal-Mart and diesel trucks get old after a while.
