So, I came back from lunch on Thursday and Brandon, Paul, and Greg were talking about different grocery things when Brandon stops and says. "Did anyone hear the news?" I thought it was about how the Hokies had advanced in the ACC, but instead, it was the fact that starting Saturday (today), I would be full-time. It's great to finally have this and a somewhat typical schedule where I will work mostly Thursday-Monday and head into work anywhere between 8 and 11 (usually, 9) and work nine hours and head on home. The hours aren't that amazing of a difference in that I was typically between 32 and 33 hours every week, but it's big for where I stand with the store, getting vacation time earlier than part-time, benefits, etc. It also looks better to be 26 and working full-time, not part-time.

And every assistant manager who I actually will talk to with some regularity (beyond Brandon, that would be Brian, Amber, April, and...another whose name escapes me right now)...they all were very happy for me and had great things to say about me. Brian said no one deserved it more. Sure, they might be blowing air up my ass, but I'm happy to get it up the ass for a change. Today, our new regional manager was headed to our store after seeing Wards Road first. So, lots of craziness developing. We're already way overstocked and struggling to keep up. Add the need to put on a great face and it's just added pressure. I stayed an additional 45 minutes and will need to leave 45 minutes early during one of my shifts to make up for it cause Wal-Mart HATES overtime and may try to kill me.

Also sorta met Erin, our new grocery gal. She is shorter than me. I have no friggin idea how she is going to reach some of the stuff we need to. Apparently, she's married and a talker. I'm supposed to be the one that teaches her and gets her acclimated to what we are doing. She worked at a Wally World in Florida, but was not asked to learn the telzon, our hand-held scanner. I've been teaching Larry and that has been a task-and-a-half. But this is another opportunity to impress everyone. The fact I stayed late looks good and if Erin quickly is able to master at least the most basic responsibilities of working grocery, it will be a huge advantage for us.

Funny thing...now that I'm not single, I'm sexy? Dammit, I thought that was a myth.

That's all for now.
