Welcome to Johto! Long story short, you're in an alternate universe type place where that thing [She gestures at Ralts] and others like it are kept as pets. Also, they have superpowers.

Word of advice, make sure it doesn't have teeth or anger issues before you hold it for too long.

An alternate...that makes very little sense.

Alternate Universe. Like, you live in one universe, where your name is Megan, you have a friend named Conner, your hair is red, and that's all normal.

But there's another universe where...everyone wears eggplant sweatshirts all the time! And there's no one named Megan or Conner. And that's what's normal.

It's like a different planet, but bigger because it's the entire universe.

No idea, but I heard a rumor that if you beat all the gym leaders and become some kind of pokèmon master, you get to go home.

I don't know if it's true, though.

They're...professionals. If you beat them in a pokèmon battle -- your talking animal vs. their talking animal in a fight, mano y mano -- you get a gym badge and your pokèmon, the aforementioned talking beastie, can learn a super special move.
