Fandom: The X-Files

Feb 22, 2005 20:42

X-Files fandom on the web is venerable and awesome. X-Files fandom on lj is friendly and fairly quiet and has only begun to really take off recently, and it's easy and quite painless to get sucked into ( Read more... )

The Haven: Large and busy forum with fic, art, and discussion. Mostly MSR, I think(?)

YES. I'm a shipper, but Haven is a whole other planet of ship. Be warned. Nice people, but you definitely need to share their POV on many things for you to feel at home. Not much for non-mainstream opinions.

Nice collection of LJ comms-there were a few I didn't even know about, and I run a comm here!

You say you're planning to add more-in what ways/catergories?

Thanks for the clarification: I've heard enough about the Haven that I've been a bit scared to step in.

I'm planning to add whatever people tell me I've missed. Or I run across while surfing lj. :)

Somebody really should do Mulder/Scully

I'm also debating doing this myself, should someone else not have covered it by the time I get a chance to do it.

A really good site for screen caps is http://www.xfraodrunners.com
and while the old mainstay of the GADD Archives is now defunct, there is a new archive for all the press photos/magazine shots/promo pics from the show and it's at:

SRR--Scully/Reyes romance.

It's there. =)

scullyreyes_luv, barely active comm.

I know the 'ship and the shippers are there-- do you really use 'SRR' for it that much though? I don't recall seeing it much, and I want to keep this *fairly* short, but I'll add it if you really think a newbie would run across SRR without explanation.

I suppose that Scully/Reyes slash would be somewhat more accurate.

And, I doubt anyone will "run across" it. I think you'd find it if you wanted to.

Nah. I think we call it Scully/Reyes slash. Or, in most cases, Scully/Reyes have hot sex.

And, I don't think the average person would just, "run across" it. Its something you look for, like a delicacy. =)

Yay! This should get linked from the xfiles userinfo.

xdrabble horribly inactive, but the layout is amusing.
txf_awards icon award comm.
xfile_stillness more icons.
scullyfic not too active.

Where can I get the xfiles mood theme that practially everyone is using? http://www.livejournal.com/users/anniesj/132205.html

RP, AG, and MP are pretty commonly used initials .. you can figure out the actors. d-:

And there's about fifty bajillion more comms if you do an interest search for "x-files." Including ru_xfiles .. how spifftacular is that?

Others that look sorta active:
monicasfox
krycek_lives
harem_xf
doggettsucks
doggettreyes

Um, yeah. Can you tell I don't wanna work on my thesis? .. I'll let you know if I think of any more.

Uh, ok then. haremxf

Maybe NL, but people don't seem to refer to him by initial very often ..

>If you do an interest search for x-files

How do you think I found most of these? (and xf and the x-files and krycek and ...) I was trying to be somewhat selective and pick the active ones. But I guess some of these should qualify too. *squints* hmmm.

Good call on the mood theme.

I'd say add the two icon comms, scullyfic, and harem, anyway. Maybe the DRR comm even though it's not active, because it could *become* active with lots of newbies and while redundancy is good in engineering, it can be annoying in lj comms. d-:

Are newbies usually interested in icons? Hmm.

Oh, maybe have a link over to the XF thread at fanfic_hate? (With a suitable explanation and warning for those who might take it to heart.. :P)

But, it looks great! This is a good compilation. Shrewd generalizations. ;)

I'm very proud of my generalizations. :)

Thanks for this. It's so helpful. I've been rather flailing looking for XF fandom. It feels a bit like a ghost ship!

It's a ghost ship that has been taken over and fitted out by a small group of merry islanders!

Thanks, I'm always glad to be helpful.
