Sometimes I hate technology....
No, despite my prolonged absence from all things fanfiction, I am not actually dead. I'm just frustrated. No, that's not quite right... I'm pissed.
I blame technology.
But let's start at the beginning. A few years back I came close to finishing one of my longer fics. I basically have the whole conclusion written and I'm just doing a bit of nitpicking before I upload it. My computer gets a virus and I lose everything. Annoying, right? But I figure that's life. Suck it up, buttercup and move on.
Then it happened again one year later. Double suckage. So I figure I'll invest in getting an external hard drive that way if it even happens again, I'll have a backup copy. Now at the time I bought, external hard drives were still a brick of a thing to carry around so I only backed things up every so often. For convenience, I figured a flash drive would be easier (and lighter) so I decided I would use the external one for major updates.
A few months I realized I had misplaced my flashdrive. No big deal, I thought, I have external one I can use. Except I haven't backed anything up since April of 2011. Months of work just gone.....
