Thank you to those of you who offered feedback on my answer.  As much as it is discouraging to read all the criticism, I did ask for it, and it's better to hear it now than to have them reject my application because they feel/think the same way.

My problem now is that I have no idea what to talk about.  I really can't think of any decent concrete

isn't being a mom about teaching? Life lessons are harder to teach than abc's. It's also harder when your emotionally invested and want to protect your child....

Yes, but I'm also feeling like I've failed there, so I'm not sure I want to go there :P

I'm very discouraged today :(
