I'm still semi-shocked. I can't believe that WALMART, of all stores, would do such a thing!
Ok, so it's not disastrous. But still. Remember the Hershey recall? All that stuff should've been pulled off the shelf weeks ago. Hershey even said that most of the recalled product never made it to stores; most of it was still in the warehouse.
So I bought some chocolate chips at Walmart yesterday. They were on sale and I want to do some baking before our party next weekend. Double-checked the date code when I got home and they were recalled!!!!!!!!!! How the hell can Walmart have these on the shelves?!?!?!?!?!?
I called and asked the manager if he was aware that they were selling recalled chocolate, and he said no, and I gave him the information about what I bought and he said he'd check it out. I'm going to (hopefully) go this afternoon to return the ones I bought, and while I'm there I'll double check that they've actually pulled it off.
I just hope no one else who bought it gets sick from them! There was at least one other woman taking some at the same time I was, it was busy at Walmart yesterday (Christmas shopping and all :P), and the display was right in the middle of a main aisle, so everyone would've walked past them.
It just boggles my mind that such a huge corporation would still have this product on their shelves! It's not like the recall wasn't INCREDIBLY well publicized.
And in case anyone is wondering, this was the Orleans Walmart. Feel free to pass this along to anyone who may have been shopping there.
