Happy week 27 Aric!
Not a whole lot has happened in the last week, other than your father and I touring the hospital yesterday. It was really quite informative and helped calm me down a bit about some of the unknowns of labor and delievery. The part that made me giggle was the first step in the L&D venture ... the Maternal Assessment Center. This made me ask your dad if that's where moms go to take their test to get their Mothers License so you have the approval to have the baby :) Of course, where, then, is the Paternal Assessment Center?
Turns out, the Maternal Assessment Center is a fancy name for triage. It's where the nurses will check me out to ensure that I truely am in labor and don't have to go home.
So what have you been up to? Well, you now weigh as much as a head of cauliflower .. almost 2 pounds! And you are about 14.5 inches long. As far as your development, you're continuing to put on that ever so cute baby fat, to make you all cute and cubby when you come out! And your brain is getting more and more developed with each day. They say that once babies hit the two pound mark, their viability chances surge as well. Not saying that I want you to come out, mind you, but still, it's good to know that the doctors would fight for you!
Not much else to report this week ... so it's on to the quizlyx!
How far along? 27 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: I'm still up only 19 pounds!
Maternity clothes? Yes, and I'm getting bored of the same clothes week after week.
Stretch marks? No stretch marks ... just a road map!
Sleep: Lately, yes. But I still have to wake up to roll over. Unless I wake up with a mouth full of acid. So gross.
Best moment this week: Having some of my fears quelled by the hospital tour.
Movement: You were prety squirmy when I was watching the Brett Farve news conference today ... you'd better not be a Farve fan!
Food cravings: Dairy Queen and cupcakes.
Gender: BOY!
Labor Signs: Nopers.
Belly Button in or out? In, but getting shallower every day.
What I miss: Going on walks with the puppy and not being sore/exausted after 2 blocks.
What I am looking forward to: Delievery day! I want to meet you!!!
Weekly Wisdom: Many of the things you might panic about (i.e. the hospital not being breastfeeding friendly, the doctor not allowing you to labor the way you want to, the unavailability of other pain meds besides the epidural) are things that turn out to be things to be the LEAST paniked about!
Milestones: We're on the home stretch, baby!
