Hello, my dearest Aric!
Here we are at yet another week. You are now 26 weeks along, which means as of Monday, I will officially be in the third trimester of pregnancy!
I'm both excited and nervous. I'm excited becuase I finally get to meet the little critter that's been rolling and squirming inside me for the last 6 months, but I'm nervous because of how much there still is to do!
Last night we went to IKEA and bought you a nice hutch/cabinet-y thing to keep your toys and knick-knacks in. It really wasn't all that hard to assemble, but with your dad and I not feeling the best, it took longer and caused more stress than it should!
Oh, and we registered for your gifts too! That's was overstimulating and overwhelming! There is so much to buy it's unbelieveable! It makes sense though, when you consider that your father and I will soon be bringing another human into the world ... that human is going to need some stuff! And as a funny side note ... yes, we did register for a CD player/alarm clock. I remember having to wait until I was in 5th grade to have the honor of having a CD player in my room, and here you are, not even born yet, and there's a CD player for you! At this rate you will get your first cell phone at about 5 :)
I also registered for about 10 sets of sheets. It's like I have a fear that I will wake up to a poop explosion EVERY NIGHT!!!
So, what have you been up to this past week? Well, you have grown to be the length of an English Hothouse Cucumber. Sadly, that is not the shape that you are in, so birth will be considerably harder than giving birth to a cucumber. Between now and 28 weeks, you will grow to be almost 15 inches long and you will weight 2.2 pounds. For now, though, you are 14 inches and about 1 2/3 pounds.
You are big enough for dad to feel you too! He was poking around my belly the other night, because I swore I could feel your head. It felt like a tennis ball! Sure enough, dad could feel the basic outline of your little body! It was really neat!
And congratulations. You officially have balls now, which is more than your father can say (hehehe!). Your testicles are beginning to decend into your scrotum.
That's it for this week, my love! Now, on to the quizzy!
How far along? 26 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: What's nice about not having a scale is that I'm still up only 19 pounds!
Maternity clothes? Of course ... I think I have to switch to the full hidden panel pants. The low rise panels just aren't cutting it!
Stretch marks? No stretch marks ... just a road map!
Sleep: Lately, yes. But I still have to wake up to roll over.
Best moment this week: Having people actually comment on my belly! People at work see me every day, so they haven't noticed drastic changes, but a couple have, and they said nice things!
Movement: All the time. Seriously, aren't you supposed to sleep, like, 20 hours a day? Cause it doesn't feel like it!
Food cravings: As usual, tacos and turkey sandwiches.
Gender: BOY!
Labor Signs: Nopers.
Belly Button in or out? In, but getting shallower every day.
What I miss: Being able to stay awake to watch the news ... or at least the Daily Show.
What I am looking forward to: The last trimester ... on Monday!!
Weekly Wisdom: In regards to not eating deli meat, hot dogs, and sushi while pregnant: "If our species was that fragile, we would have died out long ago!"
Milestones: Registering for gifts!!
