Ron Paul threatens those who are in power (who are controlling you)

Jan 24, 2008 22:48

I watched the MSNBC GOP Presidential Debates online. I missed the first twelve minutes, and the first few (the first question asked) after the break (I was in the bathroom.) I took four pages of notes, and counted every time a candidate was asked to give a response, a rebuttal, or ask a question. I counted every time a candidate was given an ( Read more... )

Ron Paul just looked confused and hopeless. Katie remarked how very old he seemed. Even though McCain is 72, he doesn't seem as old as Paul. I like Paul and Huckabee, but they do not have any business being president.

The GOP debate was useless, as everyone knows where everyone stands at this point. People who actually vote (and keep in mind, our age group has a really low percentage of actually voting) do pay attention to issues-- hence they vote. It's the apathetic who don't.

This election will be interesting, none the less.

Ron Paul's talked faster than the rest of the candidates, said more, and what he said was more meaningful.

I am completely at a loss when you say that he has no business being president. On what grounds do you say that? What did he say that made him seem confused?

I would stutter too if I were under that amount of pressure: Every single word counts because no one is willing to let you speak.

You should read a transcript of the debate; maybe then you will realize how empty many of McCain's responses were.

I agree with capnstamey. I stand by my statements that a Ron Paul administration would be catastrophically bad in a world where globalization is not only proceeding at ever-more-rapid speeds, but is almost demanded by the high level of technology and increasing dependence on foreign supplies, labor, and raw materials. While that latter may not be a good thing in every respect, it's still a core part of the 21st century world, and there's really no way to go back to "America only."

What are you talking about?! Are you listening to the media's claims that Ron Paul is an "isolationist"?

I have never heard anything from Ron Paul that is in line with what you are suggesting. Nowhere have I heard anything from his camp saying he wants to be "America only." Read http://www.ronpaul2008.com/issues/american-independence-and-sovereignty/ -- to quote: ... NAFTA’s superhighway is just one part of a plan to erase the borders between the U.S. and Mexico, called the North American Union. This spawn of powerful special interests, would create a single nation out of Canada, the U.S. and Mexico, with a new unelected bureaucracy and money system. Forget about controlling immigration under this scheme ( ... )

From his repeated statements that he advocates withdrawing from the UN and NATO, etc.

And what are his reasons for wanting to withdraw? (And have you read the webpages whose links I provided?)

Of course I've read the websites - when I look at candidate's positions, I prefer to read their own words, rather than be spoon-fed it by news pundits. I still disagree with him, however. I see the threat of a double standard especially in his statements on foreign policy. I'm willing to give up some American sovereignty in the interests of a global entity. I'm a human first, and only then an American.

Yeah, I consider myself the same way. Only difference is I prefer to be free -- that is, that others do not have control over me, especially people who aren't even on this continent.

You didn't really answer my other question, though. I suppose I'll have to spend time to verify the rumor, and then research the reasons myself? Or are you willing to share sources? :P

What does it matter which continent they're on?
His website and statements verify what I've said.

Why does it matter which continent people ruling your life live on?

Reference the American Revolution, or the Cuban/Philippines revolution from Spain, or any revolution, for that matter.

People living on the same block of land as you have a much better idea of what's going on than people halfway around the world.

You're ignoring the fact that at that time, it took weeks or months for news to travel from America to another continent.

It now takes seconds.

This is the 21st century. That's the same kind of isolationist, 250-year-old thinking that helps to ruin Ron Paul as a viable candidate.

I wasn't thinking about that; I wasn't ignoring it. I really don't see how that matters, though: We receive news about Malaysia and African countries. Doesn't mean we have a clue what's really going on over there.
