on saturday i went to gerard's house in edison, new jersey for his graduation party. it was really great because we got to play yard sports with his big italian family and i got to see some people i've missed.
the wiffleball game was probably the highlight of my life, and the quote of the day had to be aunt yvonne asking aunt judy "what kind of faggot are you?" i was an impeccable firstbasewoman, except when grandma batted - i just couldn't seem to find the ball when she hit it. also notably, sam got legitimately struck out by gerard's 7-year-old cousin, and he used to play baseball.
lauren bell was there, too, and i really really like her. i think we had fun together. we were hanging out with all the cool little kids. they kept spying on gerard's brother as he flirted with girls, and one of them was really insulted that he was choosing the ladies over chillin with his little cousins.
gerard's friend lek got really drunk and was being completely absurd, which also provided some entertainment. all of gerard's jersey friends were really nice; his friend paul was particularly funny.
at around 11:30 or midnight i drove sam to the train and went home. i had a great singalong with myself the whole way home, windows down. but how come the duration of my time spent on the belt parkway smelled like low tide? both ways?
that was a day very well spent. i'm very glad i went.
sunday was paul bernabeo's high school graduation party, and that was cool because i got to catch up with olivia and liza and danielle amatuccio, whom i had not seen in a really, really long time. it's good to know that they're all happy at their respective schools, and they're all having good experiences. we also gossiped about people from high school, which is always a pleasure.
that night i went to the beach with jenna and leigh-anne. SO PEACEFUL. ugh. fabulous.
monday was pictionary. sweet cuppin cakes.
yesterday was the fourth of july, which was quite a unique experience. i went to the city with jenna. we ate at a really good italian place and split a carafe of sangria, then headed over to meet steven and a million of jennas other friends. we went to the trendiest party ever in the trendiest neighborhood ever (williamsburg, of course) with a bunch of hipster bloggers (rumor had it that brooklyn vegan was going to show, but i don't think he did). it was pretty crowded and the apartment had the coolest roof - it was multi-tiered and there was a ton of food and beverages. i got pleasantly drunk for the first time in quite a while (since school, in fact) and made a few phone calls, cause i suck like that. there was this boy from newark who had graduated from rutgers - his name was igor and he was portuguese and i gave him my number, not that he'll call, which is a good thing because igor is the worst name ever. but either way, he wanted to eat burgers at 7A and i love burgers. after the party me, jenna, steven, and a girl named rachel headed back to manhattan and walked around union square. we had mcflurries. then rachel went home and jenna and i crashed at stevens. i like steven a lot. and his pull out couch is really comfortable.
it was really fun and pretty different, overall. i woke up this mornin' and headed to work. in the torrential rain. with no umbrella. but it was fine.
tomorrow night is a really random gathering of william and mary hoodlums in new york city when i get off work, and i'm stoked. sam is coming in with an old friend of his from the jerz, lauren bell is going to try to pop by, max kaplan will be there for a little, and DEAN EDWARDS(!!!) will be in full force. it's going to be really fun. i think we're gonna eat, have some drinks, and go to coney island. it should be awesome.
