Why Livejournal?

Some of you may be wondering why new_world_radio has chosen LiveJournal as a place with which to get out the message.

Firstly, what better symbol is there of what can happen when two former foes, Russia and the United States, team up in peace and cooperation? It wasn't that long ago that these nations feared one another!

But there are other reasons: LiveJournal is an easy-to-access site with large international footprint. It already has a huge user base, and has great tools for turning posts into ongoing conversations. Unlike other services that concentrate heavily on "blogging" or heavy on "networking", LiveJournal has the right mix of blogging and community for the message!

LiveJournal also offers controls: settings can be made to only allow registered users to post replies and comments. And those settings have been chosen here. Why? Not to keep track of who you are (that information is already known), but for consistency. If someone comments as "george", and someone else responds as "nancy", it is imperative that any subsequent responses by "george" really are from the same person. Making users log in to participate insures just that.

Also, there us the nature of the existing user-base: Sites like MySpace are full of easily-distracted socializers and people promoting themselves to the consuming masses. That is not the cerrently intended audience. Those people will be easy enough to convince when the time is right, just as they are now. Sites like Blogger and Wordpress, on the other hand, attract users who want to get out their message, but at the expense of conversation. They are talking loudly from the top of the hill, while allowing very little information to make it back up.

On the other hand, the community nature of the existing LiveJournal user base is exactly what is needed to spread the New World message! new_world_radio is convinced that the right kind of people will get the message and pass it on.

If you do not have a LiveJournal account and want to comment here, just sign up for a free account, even if you don't thing you will post to your own journal. It's free, and allows you to participate in this journal and others. And who knows? Eventually you may want to start spreading the New World message yourself!
