So, Wonderland royalty. I was re-watching parts of Alice last night, and came across the last scene between the Queen and King of Hearts - you know the one, where the Queen is all, "Zomg we gotta go" and the King is all "uh yeah no, not so much." And it got me thinking about how succession and government and all that kind of stuff works in Wonderland.
For example, in Wonderland has the position of Queen traditionally been more dominant than the position of King? (Sort of like in the rules of chess, how the Queen piece is more powerful than the King.) Or was our current beloved Queen of Hearts the only heir and decided to get her Elizabethan on? (And then later took our poor, pushed-around king for a husband.)
When Charlie brings Alice and Hatter to the city of the White Knights (is that what it's called? My memory is failing), he explains that when the Queen came to power, she wiped out the White Knights. But, does that mean that she inherited the power or that she seized it? And why exactly did she need to get rid of the White Knights anyway? I know Charlie says that "she only wanted to feel the good and none of the bad," but why were the Knights an obstacle to that?
Just curious about the history of Wonderland, I suppose. ;) And if anyone has info from the original source material that is relevant, please throw that in - I've really got to re-read it as my memory is horribly rusty.
