"Oh, aren't you beautiful..."

The words aren't forced: they're just the first things that come to mind before the screaming roster that his brain collects through his wide open eyes, listing items such as Fangs, great big? Check. Claws, breadknive -like? Check. Fur, great manky pelt of? Checkitty-check.

However, his mind is fascinated. His brain doesn't seem to be getting anywhere with telling it to pass the message on to the body that it really, really needs to run before it comes into closer aquaintance with said items. His mind, as it could be said, has a mind of its own. Run? While there's knowledge to be had? Never.

This is the problem with being a traveller: always so eager to learn something new. Like the feeling of a volcano beneath your feet just before it blows, and the equally new, but perhaps not so inviting experience of being washed up on the shores of Sumatra ten hours later. Up and down in the waves like a piece of flotsam, wondering if your next breath would be your last for that body, or indeed the next. Always so fascinated, with something so terrifying that it's terrific.

But something of the survival instinct clings to you like mistletoe to a tree, keeping you alive and one step ahead of the action. Your body obeys Rose's scream for your safety. Your mind is peeved: it wanted a few more moments to watch the werewolf stand and sniff the moonlight in the air, and rear to its hind legs and howl for all it was worth. Your brain sighs with relief as you skitter through the door before it slams, and before your mind has its say, locks it. The slamming noise from behind it sends everything, everyone scattering, but your thoughts.

They're still with the werewolf.

"Oh, aren't you beautiful..."
