"Sit."
Makejoy sat.
"Okay, now, down."
Makejoy laid down.
"And... roll over!"
Makejoy stared at him.
"Roll over," he said again, trying to put the treat over her shoulder to make her head follow it. The puppy followed it one way, then turned around to get it the other. Sigh.
"No, Makey, roll overAnd he tried it again, which got the puppy

"I have had a day let me tell you..."
A beat. A grin. "Hi, Makejoy!"

"Lessons will continue tomorrow, I think," he said as he got up and put the liver treats away. He made his way over to the bed and plunked down as well.
"Tell me all about it?"

But after that, she cut her her eyes over at him and said, "Liir? I am not a jealous person."

"Er, no. No, you're not."

"You're going to quit the play then?" he asked, looking a little sad.
"I'm sorry you didn't get the part you wanted. I guess you can try again during the summer. Or can you?"
Reply
She blinked. "No, geeze, this has nothing to do with parts or who got what or anything. I'm totally cool with my part now." Mostly. "But no, I can't try again during the summer because I won't be here."
Ugh, off track here.
"I'm referring to her tying you up. Totally doesn't sound cool, Liir. Totally."

"She didn't hurt me," he told her carefully, "I promise. It was just to show me how to get out of the ropes, so they were tied very loosely."
He pulled up his sleeves and showed her his wrists.
"See? No marks. There'd be marks if she'd done it too tightly."

"Dirty as in covered in grime and grease or dirty as in... that's-not-my-broom?"

A beat.
"People... said stuff about you and Dinah."
Reply
"Unnamed God," he said with a shake of his head, "how could-- do people really think I'd--"
He looked almost as bad as when he'd been drunk.
"Sweet Lurline, I'd never!"
Reply
She felt terrible now for saying anything. "Liir? Be okay, okay? I know you wouldn't, all right?"
Reply
"Certainly! Definitely! F-for goodness sake, I don't want anyone thinking I'd-- Yes. Please. I didn't know."
He swallowed down the bile that was threatening to come up.
"I'd never. I swear to the Unnamed God, to Kumbricia, to all of them I'd never. That's terrible."
...he was thinking something rather more serious than just cheating on Amber, but that was pretty terrible on it's own. He'd never do that EITHER!
