Final Fantasy 7 remake good or bad idea?

Lately, I've been hearing rumors about a Final Fantasy 7 remake. I believe it's supposed to be coming out for the new PS3. Critics say it’s supposed to have far superior graphics then the original, voices with subtitles, and additional missions. But is this a really good idea? You know what they say, "why change a good thing?" The original Final ( Read more... )

I didn't know that they were gonna make a remake! I read that they might not make it. Too many other projects they had or something like that.

If they do, I hope they don't screw it up! They remade Metal Gear Solid on the PS1 to Gamecube. THey changed the music on some parts, they made certain character movements faster than what they would seem in real life. The PS1 version had movements that gave a real feel even on not so good graphics.

I don't think people do a good job doing remakes. WEll some games.

IF they do remake FF7, they have a chance to acheive what they were originally after. The music might be the same, they might put more of a story that got cut out before the game was finalized. Maybe more bosses. But hey might take out some stuff to reduce time they spend making the game cause all those good graphics would take forever to create. I think they should spend all the time to make this great. Though they could also do the opposite to save time.

We'll see!

Oh so they might not make one huh, hmm that's a bummer.

I heard about that remake with Metal Gear solid, and it wasn't as successful as they had hoped. But I suppose the idea was good.

Yeah they would really need to sit down, and think about all the things they had missed in the first Final Fantasy 7. I'll admit there were a few gaps, but it was still one kick ass game. I just wished you were able to fight Rufus Shinra again...that sucked.

But yes, we will see :D

Thanks for commenting, I just hope my lj friends will also begin to post stuff on here, but of they don't it's all good :D

Sadly, I never finished number seven *waits for tomatoes to be thrown at me*. I think if they do a remake, I'd enjoy playing it, if only because of the advanced graphics and storyline. Then again, I would honestly rather play the original. In fact, I need to, because I seriously want to watch Advent Children.

So, I agree with you in the whole 'why redo a great thing' scheme, and I honestly hope that if they do it, they won't screw it up. If they do a remake, I'm sure that there will be a ton of debate over the original, and of course all of the die hard fans who will cause trouble over their favorite game being messed with.

Oh well. I'm not making much sense, but great community ^.-

Oh you never finished it yet huh, ehh it's ok...took me the longest time as well. I won't throw tomatoes at you...today :P LOL. Yeah I think everybody should at least have a clue what the original was like before even thinking about the new version, but the old will always be the best :D

Thanks for joining the community, I'm sure it will be a very successful community, thank again :D

As much as I'd like to see a remake I'm not sure it's a good move on Square-Enix's part. Fincial wise it's only really catering to the hardcore FF7 crowd, who may even shun it. Obviously it will attract new people to the game but I fear it will lose the charm the orignal had.

We don't need excellent graphics pumped into what is already a classic game. FF7 charmed me in a way no other game ever has, I don't think a remake will have the same effect on me - especially since I've already been through the story countless times.

I seriously think Square-Enix should put their efforts into making new Final Fantasy games, not reflecting on the past that is done and dusted. By all means continue to make FF7 spin-off's, but a remake is just a bad idea in my opinion.

Saying that I'd still buy it :p

Now that you mention it Final Fantasy 7 did have an unexplainable yet pleasant effect on you. I have this memory card just for Final Fantasy boss battles, I saved the Rufus and loud battle, All the Seifer fights (even though the first fight was so stupid) and the Final bosses for 7 and 8.

If they make a remake I know there going to add more missions to the game which might flop some parts, but hey you never know. I'll still give it a try if they make it, but no boss music can ever beat the original FF7 one.

Oh I might even post a preview of my new Final Fantasy 8 story in a few days; it's called "Lurking in The Darkness." That's the best title I can think of at the moment, but will most likely change it. ;)
