Debate Question Regarding A FF8 Fic

Yay! You're back! :) And...it's quite funny to me that in your first post you mention fanfiction, as I was actually considering posting a link to a story I just finished on here since I figured people in this community might appreciate it XD
However to answer your question...I definitely say Quistis. To explain in the simplest terms, she's the only one of the playable females who doesn't already have at least a somewhat canon partner--Rinoa of course has Squall, and while they are never shown as a couple, it is very strongly implied that Irvine has feelings for Selphie...and I personally think they are returned even if the game doesn't ever say it :) And of course there are the NPCs, like Fujin and Xu...but...I don't think Fujin works since it would just create drama in the Seifer-Fujin-Raijin friendship, and Xu is so militant I can't really see her being in a relationship at all...much less with Seifer, considering how she speaks to him after the SeeD exam. I suppose Ellone would have a lot of interesting possibilities, and would most definitely stir up a lot of hostility between Squall and Seifer, but...even though Squall was the closest with her, she was a big sister figure to all of them, including Seifer.
But all that aside, I think Quistis really works with Seifer. They are both characters who kind of had to take a backseat in life--Seifer and Squall are pretty much equals, but because Seifer chose a different path he is seen as the lesser of the two while Squall is the hero. Similarly, Quistis spent much of her life trying so hard to bring Squall out of his shell and to be friends with everyone, and then when Rinoa came along, not only did she manage to accomplish what Quistis never could, but she took away most of what little attention Quistis ever had. So that right there puts Seifer and Quistis in a similar situation and gives them something to bond over.
But mainly, I think they work just in personality. Quistis (to me at least) comes across as very submissive--she's not good at standing up for herself and tends to do whatever she thinks is most likely to make somebody else happy, while Seifer has a very dominant personality. And, Seifer is a boy who has never truly gotten positive attention--he cries for it, acts out as a means of getting people to notice him--but he only gets negative attention that way. Quistis is a very maternal, caring person...she needs to look after people, and she needs someone who will let her look after them. Squall never would let her care about him and only pushed her away when she tried...but I think Seifer would completely submit to it. They are very yin and yang, but I think that way they really balance each other out...she has someone who she can care for and who will let her do things for him, and he has somebody who will focus on him in a positive light, who will show him love and kindness, and still let him be the one in control. And not necessarily control in a bad way...but two people who always have to be in charge usually can't last because they are always competing...Seifer and Quistis wouldn't compete because their natural roles compliment each other so much :)

And...yes, I do read Kingdom Hearts fanfiction, though usually more about the Final Fantasy characters that the KH original characters...I have a couple pieces up on my ff.net account here if you ever want to check them out :D
