Final Fantasy X-2 endings...

Hey, I'm finally submitting a discussion topic! :-P I don't know if I make any sense with my thoughts. I tend to be very scattered in my thinking. Anyway, check behind the cut (created in case of spoilers) and let me hear your thoughts!

I have been thinking on this topic for a little while now, and I've had several discussions with my friends on the subject. As we know, there are several possible endings for FFX-2, and actions in the game pretty much decide whether or not Tidus comes back or not. My question is, which ending has more meaning behind it.

Keep in mind that when I answer this question, my opinion still doesn't stop me from hitting the X button at the end of the game so that I can see Tidus again, but I think the story is more meaningful if Tidus does not come back at the end of the game. The point of the story was Yuna learning to live her own life, this life she thought she would never have. By the end, she had learned to let go of Tidus, and to me it seems almost redundant that she is rewarded for letting go of him by getting him back.

Yuna was no longer that shy, quiet summoner from the first game who was pressured by everyone around her, but rather an independent young woman who could stand on her own two feet. A lot of that change was influenced by Tidus's entrance into her life, but holding on to those memories of him still held her back a lot. Maybe it wasn't immediately noticeable, but she had the sphere of Shuyin, thinking it might be him and when she dreamed of an altered version of Lenne's memory with her and Tidus replacing Lenne and Shuyin, it also spoke to how she still longed for him. He was assumably her first and only love at this point, and he gave up his life so she could have hers. Of course she was heartbroken. However, she still needed to learn to live without him to encourage her to follow her heart and actually follow her heart without needing someone to tell her that's what she should do.

While I still think that Tidus should not have come back, his return doesn't necessarily mean that Yuna will just return to her old ways. She's a different person now, stronger, wiser and has more faith in herself. She doesn't need to depend on Tidus anymore, so hopefully that means she is free to just love him and be with him. I've heard talk before of people thinking that Tidus and Yuna won't last because she had changed so much, but I don't think that would be the case. Tidus wanted Yuna to be her own person, to live and laugh and love and he gave up his existence (I know it wasn't the only reason he did so, but the other reasons are irrelevant to this particular argument) so she could do that.
