FF7 Disscussion: A Palmer Topic

Sep 06, 2006 19:30

Hey everybody, so sorry for the lack of updates. I am so tired from studying, it’s unreal. So I took a quick a break from my work just to post up a quick topic. I have come up with a handful of topics to post, but for today...I just wanted to have a minor discussion just because I lack the time to post a long theory, lol. Anyway, are there any Palmer fans in this community? In case a few of you forgot who that is; he was the old cheerful guy that worked for the ShinRa Company. You know, tubby and he got hit by a truck. Well I figured it was time we had a discussion regarding him, but before that, I just wanted to have a brief discussion about the Rufus and Cloud battle.

Below I posted  a video clip of the fight I found (www.youtube.com) and I have a few things I always wondered about it. It may appear blurry right now, but once you press the "play" button, the fight will play very clearly. Thank you Tom (
nosignalinput ) for showing me how to post video clips.

Ok so Dark Nation is supposed to be Rufus' bodyguard, correct? Or was it just some random monster that was at the wrong place at the wrong time? Judging from its HP (150) Dark Nation is the one that needs protection. Don't get me wrong, the whole pet protecting his master thing was cute, and he had some pretty cool magic, but his HP should have at least been higher! In my opinion, the protector should have more HP then it’s master, but that's just me. Rufus' shotgun attack isn't bad. He makes up for it in speed, unless he wastes a turn by laughing at you. Anyway, I think that Dark Nation was a waste of space, and they should have just made Rufus a bit stronger, and allow him to cast magic as well. I know some people tend to over train a bit, but 150 HP for a boss is way too low. But at least Rufus had a solid 500, that's not too bad. Oh and if this battle takes place outside Rufus' office, why can't the balcony be seen when you are looking at a picture of the ShinRa tower? Or maybe it happened on the very top of the building, literally the roof, just like Cloud and Sephiroth. Either I'm blind, or I'm looking at it at the wrong angle or something. *shrugs*

With that said if you could change a few things in that battle, what would it be? Or do you think Rufus and Dark Nation was just fine the way they are? Just wondering. :)

Oh yeah, am I the only one who feels as though that shotgun is way too big to fit into Rufus' coat? I guess somebody tossed it to him for the helicopter. Who knows? Lol.

It’s the moment we’ve been waiting for...ok not really, lol. For one thing, I am having a very hard time understanding how Palmer managed to evade Sephiroth's wrath. Surely Sephiroth could have at least sensed him or something. When I really think about it, Sephiroth, well the Sephiroth clone to be precise, must have known Palmer was there, but decided to spare him. Maybe it was to tell Rufus he was next or something. I'm not sure, but I just find it weird that he wasn't caught. As for Tseng, why didn’t Sephiroth just stay there and finish him off? I’m a Tseng myself, but the idea of Sephiroth sparing people just doesn’t add up. I guess he just simply left him for dead, lame mistake, if you ask me. For a minute, I was wondering if Sephiroth had a merciful side to him. Then again, he was so sure meteor would work; I guess it didn’t really matter.

And for my final topic, am I the only one who feels as though Palmer was just tossed aside, just to be forgotten? What ever happened to him? He did survive the whole truck thing, but it’s like before the Diamond Weapon thing, he was never seen again. Yes, I know Palmer wasn't a major character, but he was a bit more important then Heidegger. So do you think he died during Meteor, or do you like the idea of him surviving? I know it doesn't really matter, but I feel as though his character needs closure. And wouldn’t have been funny if he took over the Company for a little bit after Heidegger and Scarlet died? Lol

Well...I'll be back to post something up soon. Take care, everyone.
