The Role(s) Of The Final Fantasy Female Characters

As we all know, all of the Final Fantasy games have something in common. But did any of you notice that all, if not, most of the Final Fantasy games have females that play roles that are more important then the actual main character? I just find that to be pretty interesting. I'm not saying that the main characters of Final Fantasy were not ( Read more... )

The question of Rinoa really depends on how nessecary she was in the process of returning Ultimecia to her own body and starting Time Compression.
The way I got it, it seems Ellone needs someone else to send back into the past, and in that particular event she could only use a Sorceress and the only sorceress on their side was Rinoa.

Also, I get the idea that doing all that - sending Rinoa and Ultimecia back into Adel and retrieving Rinoa alone - was what triggered Time Compression. Ellone's abilities are a very big part of it but Rinoa may have been a needed part of starting Time Compresseion.

And as for Tidus - he thought he'd travelled through time, didn't he?

Wow...I'll have to research more about Ellone. I totally overlooked how big and confusing her role is, lol. :P

For a relatively minor character Ellone has a very large influence in the whole story.

Her departure was what made Squall so anti-social, her powers were what was causing Squall to see Laguna's past, her powers were what originally caused Laguna to go to Esthar and defeat Adel (because Adel had her kidnapped), her powers were the key to Time Compression Ultimecia was after, and her powers started Time Compression so Squall could reach Ultimecia's true body and kill her.

For a character who had not much overall screentime she had one hell of a big effect on all the events.

Wow, now I see how important Ellone is, lol. No wonder everybody was looking for her. :P To be honest, I never took into consideration how much she shaped Squall's personality. I can only imagine what Squall would have been like if he grew up with Laguna. So much would have changed, like Seifer and Squall never being rivals with Seifer.

I only say that because it looks like Squall's cold attitude adds fuel to the rivalry, lol.

Yes, Ellone - and more importantly her powers - are probably the biggest factor that has shaped the whole of the storyline, because let's not forget the reason why Edea sent Ellone away on the White SeeD ship is because Ultimecia was after her powers.

I think Ellone's role is really underplayed, honestly. She is at the center of almost every major event from the game but there really is such little focus given to her.

That's very true, it's easy to miss just how much influence she has because she's downplayed.

I really think the fact that she has mostly very short appearances and the one section she has a larger role in Squall is more worried about Rinoa's condition.

Thanks for clearing things up for me. I see where I made my mistakes, lol. I'll admit the FFX story slightly lost me, but not anymore. The dream thing made my head hurt. For me, I need to play a Final Fantasy game at least 3 times to really get a feel and grasp of it. Not to mention I learn new things and develop new theories each time. ;)

I should have mentioned Ellone's role. How did I skip that? Her role was pretty big, and I suppose it was bigger then Rinoa's.

Now that you say that, it's more Ellone who is powerful female of the story - at least magic-wise. Rinoa's influence is far more important on the personal level (her encouragement for Squall to open up).
