Who: Giselle [songandlove] and anyone else Where: The mall When: Sunday 27th January, early morning Notes: Someone be nice to poor Giselle. *huge puppy eyes*
He really should have gotten used to being knocked about in crowds by now, though Al still cried out a little at feeling someone collide into his side. About to begin an apology that would most likely go unheard, he was taken aback to hear that for once, someone was actually apologising for knocking into him. "I..." he turned to look to whoever had spoken, his eyes widening at seeing the young woman in the pretty, if fancy, dress.
"It's okay," he responded at finding his voice at last, smiling up at Giselle, "It happens a lot. At least you apologised. Thank you." he dipped his head to her politely.
Giselle smiled; what a sweet boy he was! "You aren't hurt, are you? I really didn't mean to..." she trailed off, smoothing out her dress. "And thank you for being so polite! Nobody else here as been very nice to me, and I'm really quite lost. I don't suppose you know where Andalasia is, do you?" Even Giselle's optimism had it's limits, and she was really beginning to have her doubts anyone here even knew what Andalasia was, never mind where.
"No, you didn't hurt me," Al tried to reassure her, a light flush crossing over his face, "I'm sorry that no-one has been nice to you. A lot of people here are like that." Giselle certainly seemed to be attracting a lot of looks, the kindest of those being bemusement. "Andalasia?" even through the numerous text books he and his brother had been poring over, Al was positive he had never heard of the name before. "I'm sorry, but I haven't heard of it. Maybe," he trailed off as he was jostled lightly from the side, "We should go somewhere quieter," he reached out, grasping Giselle's wrist gently, "Okay?"
Disappointment briefly crossed her face, but at his suggestion she brightened up again. "Oh, alright!" she said, letting him take her wrist and gathering up her dress in her free hand so she didn't trip. Being anywhere else had to be better than wandering aimlessly in this big castle of shops. "But where are we going?"
"Umm..." Al glanced around as he guided Giselle out of the crowds, not sure where he could take her, "The park. It will be quieter there, so, maybe if you tell me a little more about ... Andalasia, perhaps I can help you." If Giselle was that out of place here in New Sanctum, it was easy to assume that she too, came from elsewhere. He glanced up to her; it was pretty scary to find yourself somewhere so strange.
"This might sound strange," he began slowly, not wanting to offend the nice lady, "But... where you're looking for. Is it very different from here?"
"Well," Giselle said thoughtfully, now barely even noticing the people she was almost-bumping into, "There are so many people here. In Andalasia I lived in a great forest, with Pip and the rest of my animal friends. But here there aren't even any forests, or none that I can find... and people ride these scary iron horses instead of real ones! One almost cantered straight into me," she said sadly, but she was probably more concerned about the lack of horses than her close encounter with certain death by a car.
"Oh goodness, how silly of me, rambling on," she smiled, still letting him lead her along, "I haven't even introduced myself. I'm Giselle."
Listening to her politely, Al's mouth hung open a little in surprise. Had he been a crueller person, he would have written Giselle off as simply mad, but the emotion, the honesty in her tone told him otherwise. "Iron horses?" his brow furrowed as he tried to figure out just what she was referring to, "Oh! You mean cars?" It was plausible, he and Ed had come from a much less technologically advanced place, perhaps where Giselle came from was even more so 'behind with the times', "You need to be careful around them because they go very fast, and they can't always stop in time."
He smiled over at her again at hearing her name. "You've got a pretty name. My name is Alphonse, but most people call me Al."
"Cars? Is that what they're called?" she asked curiosly. Even if not everyone was nice here, it was still all very interesting. "What a strange name. Yes, they do go very fast... the woman in the 'cars' came out of this little side door and started yelling all these strange words at me when I was almost hit. She must have been very worried about me! It was very kind of her, really."
Giselle didn't want to impose, but she decided for the time being she'd stick with this Al until he had to go away. "Thank you. Alphonse is a wonderful name, too, but if you'd prefer to be called Al then I'll call you that."
Al really didn't have the heart to tell Giselle that the woman was probably more likely concerned about her own wellbeing, or that of her car. "You should try to cross the road where the lights are. When the lights are green, that means that the cars have to stop, and let you go across the road." Leading her into the relative safety of the park, Al let his shoulders relax a little.
"Alphonse's a pretty... dorky name," he shifted a little, feeling his face heat up slightly from it all the same, ".. thank you, though. You can call me whatever you would like."
Giselle looked around the park, feeling at least a little more at home surrounded by all these trees. "It sounds very dangerous. What if the cars don't stop but the lights are green?"
She had absolutely no idea what 'dorky' was supposed to mean, but she supposed it was a bad thing because of his blushing. "Oh, you don't like it? I'll call you Al," she decided, nodding and going back to looking around her. It was quiet here, but she supposed it was still early in the morning for people to want to stay outdoors. "So, this is the park, isn't it?"
"Oh, they really should," Al hesitated momentarily, she was right, what if the cars decided not to stop at a green light? "They're meant to. It's against the law if they don't. Oh, but the lights they see will be red. Which means they have to stop..." he trailed off, realising he was most likely just confusing her by now, "Sorry. We didn't have lights like that back home, either."
He nodded in response to Giselle's question, smiling a little. "Yup. It's really peaceful here. And you don't get many crowds. Or cars," he added, as an afterthought, "So.. how did you end up here? I mean, you've never been here before, right?"
Giselle was starting to get confused by the explanation, but she said quickly, "Oh, it's alright. Thank you for telling me... I'll just... 'cross the road' when the cars have stopped until I get used to these strange lights."
She wandered off slightly to watch a bird chirp from the branch of a tree. Smiling at it briefly, she turned back to Al, replying, "I was going to get married to Prince Edward today at the castle," she gestured down to her dress by ways of explanation. "But on the way I fell into a very deep, dark well... and then I was here. But I'm sure Edward will come and rescue me if I can't go back. He's very brave." She smiled brightly. "And then we can share our true love's kiss! It will be wonderful."
((OOC: Ahh! I'm so sorry. Bloody yahoo hates to inform me of comment replies at times ¬¬))
"A prince?" Al blinked as he watched Giselle, noticing just how much more at home she seemed to be within the foliage of the park, "You... fell down a well?" It sounded strange, but he had no reason to doubt Giselle in the slightest. He went through his mind briefly of which places that he and Ed had studied up on still had a monarchy, but he couldn't remember any that would resemble the place Giselle spoke of. "I hope that he does come here to help you," he added, giving her another smile, "And um... give you that kiss." despite his best intentions, he blushed a little bit.
"Yes! Edward is the prince of all of Andalasia. He battles trolls and other nasty things all the time. This strange place won't be difficult for him to cope with, I think," she said with optimism, smiling as he blushed. Al was so bashful about everything, but she thought it was very sweet. "Thank you. I know he'll come."
Then, suddenly, she wandered back over and taking one of his hands in both of hers. With quite a serious expression, she asked, "Have you found your true love yet?"
His blush drew deeper, Al could feel his skin burning as he gazed, open mouthed at Giselle. "I... I-I..." he swallowed hard, ironically growing more embarrassed at how bashful he was being, "N-no." He had crushed on Winry when they were kids together, but it didn't come close to anything other than a platonic love for the blond mechanic. "I... I think I'm... too young j-just yet." he added a little lamely, really wishing his skin didn't tend to flush so easily.
"Oh! I see!" she laughed, letting go of his hand again when she noticed she was doing nothing for his blushing. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to embarrass you! But you can fall in love at any age. That's why it's true love."
She paused, and looked around her at the park again. "Well, I suppose I'd better find a place to stay, if I'm to be in this place for a while. That group of trees over there look very nice and shaded..." She tapped her chin in thought. Then again, what would she do if her wedding dress was ruined? Even she had the common sense to see it would get dirty. It was quite a dilemma.
"It's okay," he responded at finding his voice at last, smiling up at Giselle, "It happens a lot. At least you apologised. Thank you." he dipped his head to her politely.
