Riku left his house and locked the door. It didn't help that he was living alone now; he was somehow constantly worried about the house. Whatever. He was certain that he had locked it up pretty well.

Riku strolled over next door, to Sora's house. Being neighbours, it was easy to walk by. Knocking on the door, Riku paused and waited for Sora to open the door.

What was it that they had gotten for him, anyway?

Sora was still half lost in a daydream when he near jumped as the distinct sound of knocking filtered into his ears, dropping the pile of cushions he was holding back onto the sofa, then promptly jumping over it and running to the door, opening it wide.

"Riku!" he announced, before stepping sideways to let him in. "Come in, come in."

Riku glanced up to see Sora smiling off again. Following him into the house, Riku plopped down on the slightly neater sofa, and glanced around the living room.

"Well, it looks like you have a cleaner house now. Don't you clean up your own house on your own regularly?"

Closing the door, Sora followed after, a slight guilty smile appearing on his face as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Well, I do. This room is usually a tip, though, since I spend the most time in it," he admitted, leaning on the arm of the sofa as he did so.

"Ah, right. " Riku gazed over the house once more. It brought back pleasant memories of childhood fights and such. Getting his thoughts back on the topic, Riku stared into blank air, trying not to look too interested in his gift.

"You called me over for something?"

"Oh, yeah!" Sora replied, making a grab for the silvery blue parcel. "Here," he said nervously. "I hope you like it."

Riku took it slowly and shook the package lightly. Curious to know what was inside since Christmas was already over, he asked, a smile waiting to appear on his face. "...Am I allowed to open this...now?"

A smile spread over Sora's face at Riku's question. "Of course you can!" he ushered, nodding to himself as he sat himself on a seat opposite where Riku was with a very intent gaze on his face. "Kairi picked the paper. I wasn't sure if it was okay or not but she insisted," he said incoherrently, as if in an attempt to fill a silence that may follow.

He held the present in his hands. In the silence that followed, his thoughts rearranged themselves from the mess they were in, and he looked up to Sora. "...Alright then." Slowly, Riku pulled off each layer of the present, taking in every moment as the corners of the photo frame began to show. The very moment Riku saw the picture however, was a completely different thing. His eyes widened like open windows; his mouth turned into an 'O'.

"This...picture...It was taken very long ago...yet it seems very well touched up." All the emotions he had clammed up for years began building up in him, as a little tear broke his barrier.

"...This is the best gift I've ever received, in my entire life. Sora..." Riku stood up, got towards him and hugged. "...Thank you."

Sora watched in silence, and was entirely caught off guard as Riku hugged him, not responding for a couple of seconds. "H-Hey," he said slowly, "It's alright - I'm just glad that..." he slowed, before he hugged him back. "You're welcome."

"Ah, sorry." Backing off, Riku was slightly embarassed by what he just did. It wasn't like him to act so emotional - not even in front of Sora. "This is really meaningful to me, you know?" Smiling sadly, Riku glanced out of the window and looked to his house with sad eyes.

"I haven't gotten a gift in years."

Sora beamed up at him (mostly from the success of the gift to begin with), before it seemed to fade as he noticed the slight melancholy in Riku's voice. "You've always got us though, right? We'll make sure you get the best," he paused, before adding, "And you can always come over anytime you like, you know that - it's always quiet here."

"Yeah, I know that you guys are here." Riku gave a brief smile before reverting back to his usual frown. "Same at my place, you could say. There's almost no one there now, except for me. " Sitting down, Riku put down the gift momentarily, looking into nowehere with faraway eyes. "It was lonely, out there...wandering." Glancing at Sora, he asked cautiously. "...Do you want to know abit of my travels?"

It was the least he could share. It wasn't nice to keep everything inside, especilly since Sora was his best friend. He just had to be careful not to bring up anything on Roxas...or Namine.

Sora watched Riku's progress without moving his head, a slight frown forming on his face. He could understand the lonely part a little - there was the time he was a Heartless for barely more than five minutes, and when he'd been tested by himself - but really, that compared nothing to what Riku must have had to go through. So when Riku said he'd speak with him about his journey, Sora perked up again.

"Really?" he asked, his eyes wide as he sat down next to him. "If you want to. I'd like to know."

Seeing that Sora was interested, Riku grinned. "Well, what do you want to know? The worlds, people, or what?"

"Erm..." Sora looked thoughtful for a moment. "Anything you want to say, really. How about a little of everything or something?"
