job hunting really sucks ¬¬ (character event)

Fai stopped, smiling softly. He had been wandering down the street, looking for any and all help wanted signs. He felt bad that Kurogane had gotten him an apartment and he wanted to take over paying the rent as soon as possible. That was when he had noticed Ed. The newspaper was what had really caught his eye though, knowing that searching for a job would be easier that way.

"Ah, I'm sorry." He said, moving around to sit across from him at the table. "I was just wondering if you were done with that newspaper is all."

Was he? Well there was certainly nothing in the want ads that he would be suitable for. Right now was no time to be picky and he’d taken a janitors job if it was available since it would be a source of income, but people seemed to want employees to have prior knowledge of the job beforehand. It seemed silly to him, weren’t you supposed to learn about the job as you went along instead of being coddled by some state education system?

“Sure,” he answered flippantly as he handed it over. “You wont find anything interesting though. Just stories about the growing unrest amongst them population… it’s some guy called Rory’s birthday apparently, though I wonder how much the sad loser paid to get that mentioned in there and the want ads are shit.” Holding the paper up to Fai with one hand, it took a quick swig of coffee from his cup in the other.

Fai took the newspaper, flipping through until he found the want ads. He couldn't read the language here, but he could always find Kurogane or Sakura to help him. He folded the section neatly before pocketing.

"Well, then its a good thing that I'm only interested in the want ads." Fai said, watching the other silently. "You can't really be picky when you don't have much money to live off of, now can you?"

“I’m not being picky!” Ed retorted sharply, having no intention of just sitting there and letting himself be insulted no matter what level of insult it was or whether it hadn’t even been intended as an insult. “I’ll take any job but the employers wont take me. They want state educated morons who have ‘experience’!” Done with his mini-rant, he raised the cup to his lips again, glaring over the rim at Fai as though it was somehow all his fault.
