Oopsie? [character event]

Who: Rikku Mashino [upbeatprincess], extensive group of giggling schoolgirls, and anyone else
Where: One of the fountains somewhere.
When: Saturday 9th June, around about 3:00pm.
Notes: She's not emo anymore? XD well, not much.
It was a rather hot Saturday afternoon, and that had not gone unnoticed to a rather large group of schoolgirls, all giggling away

Watanuki stared at the group of girls. He blinked a couple of times. He was just passing through and when he heard girls giggling he couldn't help but looking at them. They reminded him of Himawari, somehow.

By now, all the girls were staring at him, wondering what was he thinking. He blushed slightly, "I-I'm sorry... Did I interrupt your fun?"

"I just soaked you, didn't I?" Rikku questioned cautiously, jumping over the edge of the fountain and only suceeding to splash more water around on her friends. "... I didn't notice you were here."

"That's okay, don't worry. I was going to wash my uniform anyway." Watanuki smiled. "By the way, I'm Watanuki Kimihiro." He held out his hand, still smiling.

Blinking - for one thing, Rikku had not expected that reaction. She'd expected some sort of.. complaint. She knew she would have complained if she'd been soaked by water by some random stranger.

Curious for a moment, she replied slowly, "... Rikku." Gingerly, she eventually reached out and took his hand. This was.. odd, but he seemed kind-hearted.

Watanuki didn't want to complain about what had just happened. Of course, if it had been Maru, Moro or Mokona, he would have definitely yelled at them. But that girl seemed to have so much fun... he didn't want to ruin it.

The smile on Watanuki's face, however, disappeared as soon as he saw something behind Rikku - a spirit. He froze a little bit, staring at that weird creature that only he could see.

Noticing he was distracted by something, she tilted her head slightly. "What's the matter?" she asked curiously, spinning round to see what he was looking at - and finding nothing, returning to looking straight at him. "You okay?"

Watanuki blinked. "Y-Yeah..." He smiled a little. "I'm alright. M-Maybe it's better if I go to work, now..." he said.

He didn't know what to do. He had to get away from the spirit, but... he also wanted to stay a little more.

Rikku looked surprised. "You're working? On a bright sunny day like this?" she smiled brightly. "You should stick around! But then again, if you're late..." she looked thoughtful.

Watanuki laughed nervously. "Yeah, well, you see, the person I'm working for is really, really weird, so it's not that surprising if I have to work also today... I don't actually work, I just... cook and clean things..."

Then he looked at her. "And also, you're with your friends, I don't want to trouble you..."

Taking this in, she frowned. She found it absolutely horrible he had to work when the weather was so nice, and that he didn't seem too looking forward to it either. "Well, how about this?" she asked, coming up with a compromise. "I'll go there with you! Then you won't be by yourself. And can have some fun."

"Really?" he asked, surprised. However, Watanuki knew he couldn't take her to Yuuko's shop, or she would become another victim of that wicked witch for sure.

"I think..." he started, but then he noticed the spirit behind Rikku moving closer to her. "...we should better hurry!!" he nearly screamed. He quickly took her wrist and run away from the spirit and the girls.

Almost falling over as he did that, Rikku rebalanced herself, waving goodbye hurridly to her friends as she was raced away in... whatever direction Watanuki was taking her. He was definately unnerved by something, but whatever it was didn't seem to be visable to her. In any case, she was going with him.

Rikku laughed, slowing slightly after a good distance had been put between them and the fountain. "You're strange, Watanuki. But in a good way."

Watanuki slowed down, until he finally began to walk along with Rikku. He smiled a bit. "Yeah, I know. Some people have told me that before." He then let go of her wrist, blushing slightly. "Um... Sorry."

"It's alright," Rikku replied brightly, thinking nothing more of it. Sudden running sessions didn't bother at all - it made her feel more alive in the long run. "Something must have really bothered you though.. anyway.. where do you work?" she questioned, walking slightly slower alongside him, since, afterall, she had no idea in which direction they were headed.

Watanuki's expression suddenly darkened. "Even if I told you what bothered me, you wouldn't believe me..." he nearly whispered. There was silence between them for a couple of seconds. Then Watanuki tried to smile again, "Sorry, I was just thinking out loud... Anyway," he looked ahead, still smiling, "The shop where I work is kind of... hidden. It's special."

"I've seen a lot of things," Rikku said absently, but cast the matter aside. "Wow, that definately is something... guess I'll just walk with you.. near to it," she decided.
