Ruminations [event]

Who: Mai [girlsprison], anyone else.
Where: ...Where else, but the Park of Plot?
When: Nine AM on Saturday.
Notes: I suppose you could think of this as also a general event! Kind of in the same likeness as that old Shinji thread from wayway back. ...Secretly, I envy the tremendous success of that event.
The park was a nice place to sit and ruminate. What ( Read more... )

In his old life, Naoki had been more than a little upset at the face-painting booth that some of the other students had set up, primarily because they disagreed with his philosophy that no one should touch anyone else with paint. Ever. Under any circumstances.

Now, however, he was thankful for it; now when anyone saw him walking through the park, they thought he was a walking advertisement for the darn thing, complete with 'glow in the dark' paint or something else equally as aggravating. Naoki wasn't sure if they saw the horn on the back of his neck or not, or what they thought of it, but that wasn't his problem right at that moment.

No, his real problem was finding someone who could help him. Someone who could recognize what he was and help accordingly. And who better than the 'dangerous delinquent' of his school, one of the few who had even fewer friends at school than he had? Sliding into the bench opposite of her, he quietly asked, "Mai?"

Mai did not respond at first. She glanced at Naoki and then sharply looked away, unsure whether or not to respond to him.

Then, finally, in her quietest tone, "...Yes?"

"I don't know if you remember me or not; I was in the grade ahead of you in school," the Demifiend began, hoping beyond hope that maybe, just maybe, something could click there. The wounds he had suffered just that morning from Vergil had all healed, due to the power of Ankh, and even the fear at the back of his mind was suppressed by the peace granted by that Magatama. He could act normally, which he hoped would be a good thing.

"...I hate to impose, but I'm running from my life from a demon hunter, and I don't know how long I have until he finds me again. And if he does, I don't think I'll be able to get away again. I know it's sudden, but... do you know of anywhere I can stay, just until I can find a way to get rid of him?"

Why Naoki would be running from a demon hunter was completely lost on Mai. While she certainly acknowledged the existence of other types of demons from the kind she primarily fought at the school, he didn't look like any sort of demonic creature, save for the horn protruding from the back of his neck. Which was, admittedly, awfully strange, but other than that... Mostly human.

"...I can't help you," she answered, rising from the bench and beginning to walk away. It wasn't that Mai didn't want to help Naoki, but where was she supposed to know of a place for him to stay?
