[ History ] :
this link sounds irrelevant but it isn't! I SWEAR! [ Personality ] :
Okay, so, the main point here is Kagami is damn normal. Seriously! He is the island of sanity in a world of makeup-battles and nihilism sponsored by your local Hot Topic and the man walking the path of douchery-- er, heaven. For reals, though (but it all happens, I promise you!) Kagami is for all intents and purposes, a good guy. He wants to succeed in the restaurant busboy business, live comfortably, perhaps settle down with a nice girl, but most importantly, defend the world from horrible monsters that basically eat humans and cavort around with their stolen bodies and memories. It's not unreasonable! Thing is? The man's kind of... not so great at what he wants to do.
His emotions are probably the easiest way to reach him-- he's open with them, expressive and doesn't tend to hide it. He's actually a little too easy to read, and that gets him in trouble sometimes. Still, as he may wear his heart on his sleeve, he's not weak or overemotional; just again, toeing the line of normal. Kagami isn't the best or the brightest, but he has the most will to succeed. He's a fighter; the god of war, Ares, he's compared to. Those are some big shoes to fill! Even so, he doesn't let that get to him.
The man hates feeling powerless, weak, or useless compared to anyone else. This really sucks when the closest thing you have to a friend is just some awesome powerhouse of awesomeness. Indeed, he shares a unique sort of antagonistic/friendly competition (that he always loses) sort of relationship with the series' titular character-- Kamen Rider Kabuto, Tendou Souji. Even if they do antagonize each other a lot, Kagami ends up being used, but Souji helps him out anyway.
Kagami wants to succeed, down in his heart. He's preceded by a legacy of his father's-- and part of his motivation to do well is because of that. He wants to live up to and exceed his father's expectations, and step out of his shadow as well. It's kind of hard when your father runs the business of saving the world, but Kagami's lot is not a light one. He wants to establish himself, for many reasons, his own ego being a large part thereof, but he's also motivated to live for his brother that passed on.
This isn't to say he's blinded by his motivation-- far from it! Kagami is even a little (read: incredibly) forgetful of things he should be doing in lieu of things in front of him. He gets distracted easily. It's to a really bad degree, and yet he still manages to keep his part-time job. (Late about 60% of the time, I might add.) It's not that he means to, really, he is apologetic; it's just that the man's mind can only be occupied by so many things at once, and when times get overwhelming... well, some other priorities have to go.
He's a man of simple, yet charismatic words, and his intent is never ill. Sometimes, he just lacks the spine to do anything about it... but it's growing! Slowly, over time. It's just a matter of getting himself to that point of no longer being intimidated by his own failures, his issues with the world, and people more successful than him. For now, Kagami is no longer a spineless failure dying of neglect in his father's shadow-- but he doesn't walk tall quite yet.
Kagami is friendly, in how he relates with others, a jovial normal young man. He's not the most social, and usually he does get pretty worn out by working two jobs, but he tries to keep his best face up. You could say he wants to be the person everyone expects of him-- warm, sort of funny (not nearly as funny as Kagami thinks he is) and a personable fellow. He goes out for drinks and ramen, he likes baseball, and he's kind of got a little crush on the pretty girl at work. Normal! He doesn't try and be an asshole to others-- but he calls them out when he sees something wrong. It's all part of doing the correct thing, really.
[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
Kagami is, again, charismatic. Later in canon he's described as a god of war-- he never gives up, even when life kicks him in the teeth. He's resilient enough to deal with Souji's crap, and that takes a lot! Aside from that, he's easily distracted, and not really the most courageous of folks, at times. Despite that he also has a rare tendency to man up and defend the hell out of anyone he considers an ally. At no small risk of harm to himself, Kagami steps up to fight for others.
Despite that, as of right now, he's also able to transform into Kamen Rider TheBee, which is a powered up suit with heavy armor-- until it Casts Off (drops the armor layer) and gains a speed boost as well as the ability to Clock Up (travel at nearly supersonic speeds). Its main attack is Rider Sting, which basically stabs from the wrist-band, but it can also shoot hornet darts as well.
Kagami is... kind of an idiot sometimes, in that obvious things don't hit him correctly or he'll just wander off into his own thoughts. It's not really terrible, but he is kind of ADD and never too on-task unless it's super-important!!! and even then it's kind of a crap shoot for if he actually does manage to remember everything. He can't really cook, he isn't very coordinated, but his heart is what counts!
He can actually eat a lot of damage; it comes from being beaten up... a lot. He rolls with the punishment and it mostly just pisses him off. When Kagami gets pissed off, he does tend to get a lot stronger! It's all determination and will, really.
[ Other Important Facts ] :
Info on TheBee's equipment and abilities Kagami looks really terrible with facial hair. Just sayin'.
[ Sample ] :
The morning was bright when Kagami sat up, and he stretched luxuriantly, rising his hands above his head. It felt like a great day. He'd even woken up before his alarm went off! It was really good luck. He didn't even feel tired, really. The man shuffled off his bed, pushing aside sheets and covers to stand up, stretching again. It was full of pleasant surprises, this day-- he was even wearing pajamas instead of just his work clothing, minus the jacket. He shuffled to the bathroom, running a hand through his hair and going to go brush his teeth.
Yup, it was going to be a pleasant day today. Maybe he'd even get to go have ramen before his second job started... that would be really nice. Canines, molars, he scrubbed them over, smiling at himself in the mirror with a frothy mouth. It was times like these that kept him going, those absolutely awesome mornings where everything went right. He spat, rinsed his mouth and washed his face in the tap, drying off before he went to go find his clothing.
It took a little bit of searching before he actually did find his clothes-- mostly because last he did laundry was about a month ago, so he searched the closet and drawers first, to no avail. Still! He passed by where he had kicked off the previous night's uniform... and frowned. He'd do his clothing tonight, for sure. --His pants were shaking. That was strange-- wait, his phone was still in there. Someone was calling! He reached down to rummage through them, finding the appropriate pocket in time. He flipped his cell open, but it was too late. A missed call from Tendou, no doubt calling at ungodly in the morning just to irritate him! He closed the phone, then glanced at the timer display on the outside.
One o'clock was way too early-- 1:00? PM? Kagami moaned aloud, slapping his free hand to his forehead. God he was going to be in so much trouble. Kicking off his pajama pants, he opened his phone again, heading to call work to apologize for being so late. Of course, in doing so, and also trying to grab his pants, he managed to overbalance and fall over, nearly landing on his face. This was going to be a grand start indeed.
