Do you get them often? I think Australia is mostly on an entire tectonic plate, so we don't see that kinda thing often at all over here...

No, not often... the authorities are calling this earthquake a 5.2. The last large one was a 5.0 in 2002, which was much weaker. A 5.3 hit the area in 1968 and was felt by 23 states.

Now we're expecting many aftershocks of 2-3 which may not be felt by people, but the redistribution of stress changes may "generate another big one on a fault which is locked and ready to go" (link).
