So - based largely on the deplorable record of a Republican who was not a conservative, a Democrat becomes President while running on a slogan of "change" - while not proposing one single new idea that hasn't been hashed and rehashed by liberal Dems since FDR. Not one

I could point out that concerns over the Bill of Rights exist on all sides of the political debate: while the Republicans have been stoking fear of Second Amendment infringements, they have backed the destruction of the Fourth (aided and abetted, I'll point out, by that wacky "liberal" Senator Barack Obama). But concerns about the Bill of Rights will shortly be completely moot, since if we do not act to preserve it the United States will collapse like the Soviet Union before it. Over the past eight years the Vice President has labored hard to undermine the Judiciary branch and turn it into a political agency of the Executive, and the President has routinely flaunted his disrespect for the Rule of Law, whether with his signing statements or his sneering at Congressional subpoenas.
The Ship of State has listed far to the Right and is shipping water. We need to tip back to the Left just to regain balance.
And as for taxes, the Bush Administration has racked up a dizzying national debt. Taxes WILL inevitably be raised if the nation is not to default. That's because I recognize both the need to be fiscally responsible, and the duty to meet our national obligations.
Now, if your candidate lost last night you can decide to dig in your heels, or you can reach out and try to be part of the solution. Obama extended that offer last night, and McCain much to his credit signaled his acceptance. So we can spent the next four years impeaching Obama for a parking ticket or jaywalking or whatever nonsense the corporate right media manages to invent, or we can try to fix America. That's more of an offer than Bush ever extended after his big electoral 'mandates.'
