The Avatar Entry
I've fallen behind on updating this thing. :P Here's my "What it means to be the Avatar" entry, and then I'll post an update on what's been going on recently.
The Avatar is...
the one person in my world who is able to master the four elements (air, water, earth and fire). It's the Avatar's job to maintain order/balance between the elements, the nations, and even between the physical world and the Spirit World (weird place...). When the Avatar dies, the Avatar spirit is reborn into the next elemental nation in the cycle (mentioned above). I was born an Airbender in this life...I'm also the last one. The spirits of previous Avatars can communicate with the current one from time to time. (The Avatar before me was Avatar Roku.) Also, there's this thing called the Avatar State that the Avatar can use in emergencies - it's where he or she will be able to call on the knowledge and power of the past Avatars. (When I go into it, my eyes and tattoos glow!)
Bending is...
the ability to manipulate one of the four elements (or in the Avarar's case all four). Practicioners are called Airbenders, Firebenders, Waterbenders and Earthbenders. Bending air is called Airbending, bending water is called Waterbending...you get the idea.
(Toph is the only Earthbender to ever be able to bend metal, making her the world's first Metalbender. Go Toph!)
My tattoo...
is a sign of being a master Airbender. It goes down my back and along my arms and legs too.
The different nations in my world are...
the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation and the Air Nomads.
The war I'm fighting...
is a war that's been going on for one hundred years. The Fire Nation started it when Sozin's Comet gave the Fire Lord and his army of Firebenders a big power boost. They...they wiped out the Air Nomads and have been expanding their hold on the world ever since. I have until Summer Solstice to master the elements and defeat the Fire Lord, or Sozin's Comet will return and not even I'll be able to stop him and the Fire Nation...
Right now, I'm looking for a Firebender who can teach me Firebending, because that's the one element I still need to learn.
How I'm 112 years old:
One hundred years ago, just before the start of the war, I was flying over the ocean on Appa when we got caught in a storm. A wave crashed over us and we almost drowned, but I went into the Avatar State and sealed us in an iceberg. Then I was broken out of it by my friend Katara when she found me...so I went from being 12 to 112.
Appa is...
a sky bison (possibly the last one) and my animal companion. He flies us around as our main mode of transportation too. He's been my buddy for a long time. He's 10 tonnes, has six legs, a big wide tail and lots of white fur (that sheds all over the place in spring).
Momo is...
my pet winged lemur. He's...a winged lemur. And a trouble-maker sometimes.
I think that about covers it. I'm gonna use this next time someone asks me something about...well, any of the above topics really. If anybody has any questions, feel free to ask them. :)
