Yorkshire Architectural Heritage
I’ve come to realise that I’m really fortunate to live here, in Yorkshire, place so rich in history and, oh God, so picturesque - especially when compared with dull grey communist landscape I grew up in. Believe it or not, I even like English rainy weather, though I enjoy bright sunny days as well, particularly when I’m out visiting historic houses and enjoying the surroundings. I’ve gradually build up a considerable photo-archive of beautiful Yorkshire stately homes, country houses, abbey ruins, historic gardens, and eventually I’ve decided to share my photos with the world. The photosets will be accompanied by short introductory/explanatory texts in both Russian and English, because as George Eliot points out in Middlemarch ‘there is a great deal in the feeling for art which must be acquired’. So… what to follow

Я недавно осознала, что мне несказанно повезло с местом жительства. Йоркшир - английское графство, богатое на исторические памятники и чрезвычайно живописное, особенно если его сравнивать с угрюмо-серым коммунистическим ландшафтом моего детства. В это сложно поверить, но мне даже нравится английская дождливая погода, хотя и солнечной - более подходящей для фотовылазок - не брезгую. У меня постепенно скопилось в закромах значительно количество прекрасных йоркширских помещичьих домов, дворцов, руин аббатств, садов, и, в конце концов, я решила поделиться ими с миром. Фотосеты будут сопровождаться познавательными текстами на русском и английском, ведь как пишет Джордж Елиот в Миддлмарче “любви к искусству во многом нужно учиться». Комментарии приветствуются!
