I got my official termination notice yesterday. My last day of work will be September 2nd.
My stress level keeps rising, and then I remind myself that it's all going to be okay. I get two months severence pay, and after that I'll get unemployment. Not the ideal situation to be in, but not the end of the world if it takes me a while to find the right next job.
The most exciting thing is that I'm going to be buying my G5 from the company when I leave, software and everything. I won't have to back-up all my freelance files and transfer them, I won't have the buy computer and software seperately and get everything set up... it will be an easy transition. Plus I'll get the whole thing (g5 + adobe software + quark + other software + monitor), which is worth around $3000, for somewhere between $500 and $1000. It's fucking sweet, and makes life so not stressful. Because even once this job is over, I'll still be able to pick right up with any freelance stuff I still may want to do.
And I now have fourteen work days left to assemble my portfolio. Not since my school days have I had the experience of counting down days... counting down days until I am free from Tualatin. Free from Retirement Communications. Free from watching blue sky from white office, at least for a bit.
