"In Too Deep!" plot background

As the "age of mecha" still flourished even after the Second Impact, there was seemingly a trend. Machines designed for combat in all sorts of terrain, land, space, flight, intergalactic travel. Even a few were able to burrow into the very Earth itself, on that off chance that something was living within the crust for thousands of years, waiting to strike. But there were a sad few that were specialized for deep sea combat. Sure, they could get underwater, but, technology, and human capacity, prevented going beyond a certain depth before weapons were rend useless by pressure, or the pilot themselves.

Dr. Hoshizaki took it upon himself to develop a means for deep sea combat, eventually hoping to turn this same science into manned deep sea exploration once the depths of the earth's oceans were known to be safe! After many years of trial, error, and research, the doctor had finally developed a liquid substance that resisted all outside pressure. No matter what pressure was applied on the outside, it had no effect on object inside. What's more, it was oxidized, leaving it as a breathable liquid substance. Documents state that this substance is akin to LCL used in the Evangelion models, however differently developed that it is.

Years more, and a machine was developed with the same theories in mind. There was a problem in finding a test pilot. During the search, the machine deployed without authorization. It was Hoshizaki's daughter. Since she'd already set out, and thus, volunteered, they proceeded with testing... With amazing results. Everything worked as theorized.

After a year of testing and development, Hoshizaki's daughter began to show an unusual amount of physical growth. Though she'd been through puberty once before, tests concluded her body was going through reoccurring similarities, each peak of growth days after another test had been run with the machine. However, aside this, nothing adverse had developed, so, testing resumed.

And testing turned to combat, as creatures from the deepest parts of the oceans began to rise, what with most of the world in turmoil anyway it only seemed natural. Most combat tests proved successful, but as combat does, it had it's ups and downs. Eventually, one last 'down' while Hoshizaki's daughter was in combat. It was a sudden growth spurt, another 'puberity' hitting her again, and this had happened before, however, this one had begun to rage out of control. His daughter began to rapidly grow, swell, and mutate. Despite all her begging and pleading for help, there was nothing Hoshizaki could do from his end. And the monsters she were fighting were starting to lay waste to the machine. All Hoshizaki could think to do was end his daughter's misery on his terms, not at those of the monsters. Enabling the self-destruct, he walked away from the console. After a minute, communication was lost.

Hoshizaki was haunted by he images he'd seen of his daughter mutating before his eyes, but... as he began to lose himself, he found a sort of... perverted satisfaction from it. After some re-formulating of the liquid substance for the pilots, he began building again. With the test-model mostly a success for more than a year, he produced two new models at the same time. However, rather than risk someone important, he looked to those who would hardly be missed... Now getting old, and living with perverted visions of his daughter and what his formula could do to others, he began seeking females... those with seemingly less moral boundaries, and less likely to really 'ask' questions...
