First of a two part installment I've so creatively dubbed "The Ups & The Downs". Each song comes complete with short description and lyrics sample.
THE UPS

Very floaty and fun in general. Cover of the classic by Nina Simone. Reminds me how Mori is a little bit over the top and sometimes just a bit too dense or feels too good to let things get him down.

02 Aruarian Dance - Force of Nature
A single off of the Samurai Champloo soundtrack. Japanese hip-hop instrumental. Very relaxed. Somehow, I see Mori walking along a dirt road as the sun sets without a care in the world when I listen to this song. Don't ask how. XD
03 Smiley Faces - Gnarls Barkley
A very fun, bouncy song. A little jazzy with a hip-hop twist. Swing, maybe? I dunno. I can see people doing the jitterbug or the charleston to it. XD Aaaanyway, it brings to mind that Mori is all about smiles and putting them on other peoples' faces. How he appreciates and respects people that can smile because he knows, in the grand scope of things, smiling isn't always easy to do.

04 Kick Push - Lupe Fiasco
Hip-hop with maybe a little funk twist. About a kid, skateboarder in this case, who's looking for someplace to be himself and, no matter where he goes, he gets turned away.

Started in the morning wouldn't stop till after dark
When they said it's gettin late in here

05 Endlessly - Muse
Soft spoken and catchy. I like the lyrics as much as the sound. So, our dear Mori is a romantic, after all.

And if the moment ever comes"
06 Second Instrumental - Sharks Keep Moving
Another instrumental. Indie rock this time. It goes through a few transitions but holds true to a mellow undertone. What I imagine Mori's presence to be like. Fun, calming at times, but perserverant.
07 Don't Panic - Coldplay
You may recognize it from Garden State. Warm and optimistic sounding. Really, Morison's voice when he's at his best.
