Twelfth rebirth [letter || text]

Dec 18, 2009 21:59

[Yuca is gone on the morning of the nineteenth, before Rain can wake up. Two letters rest innocently on the table for him when he does decide to wake- one addressed to him, and one with a little "do not open" in Yuca's spidery writing on the front.]

Rain,

I chose you to be the Methuselah because you loved and cared more deeply than anyone I have ever known. I wanted to hurt you, to break that annoying conviction of yours- yes. But all the same, you were always the most suited to save humanity. That fact cannot be changed.

If I somehow forget you...

Well. You should be smart enough to figure out what to do. Cheers.
-Yuca.

[The letter addressed 'do not open' is written in a dead language that Rain- or anyone else- will probably not be able to read. Something with a lot of curls and symbols.]

I'm going to die tomorrow.

If I don't remember you... tell me the story of my life on the farm? My uncle's name was Gregory- his daughter's was Maylene. That should allow me to trust you at least a little, once I understand the gist of things.

I'm sorry, and I hope things turn out well.

Remember what we discussed when I visited your home? About the nature of this place, and how we could try and prove it?

If one were to die here, what sort of sensations do you think they would endure, if our theory is correct? A sense of disjunction, perhaps?

Theoretically, of course.

[Private to Mayuri || Unhackable]
I'll be there tomorrow morning.

thanks mayuri, filters everywhere, kill me kill me kill me, immortality sucks, idkmybff rain
