They do more than walk.

You mean, they "live"? Can't call them dead then, can you?

No, they are dead. They don't have a heartbeat. And they're cold.

That im-

Right. Besides that they're alive.

No stranger than what typically happens here on a random Thursday.

Curses. Sheep.

Curses and the oocasional diabolic mastermind deciding to kill everyone through the use of vampire soldiers or a army composed of random monsters.

Is there anyone who steps up and stops them?

Well not in a zombie-like way.

Dead people who're alive, basically.

Basically, but that's putting it in really simple terms when it's not always simple for the people going through it. There are other things to focus on in this place, you know.

I know that, but it's interesting to me. Can't say that ever happens in the real world.

It isn't difficult to make the dead live again with the correct cybernetic parts.

Cybernetic parts?

Tell me about them.

She seems more intelligent than most young humans, at least. More tolerable.

The parts themselves, or how they allow the dead to live? You seem to be asking the former.

There are a host of mechanical devices that replace weak human parts. Even blood has a synthetic upgrade. For example, I once gave a man two mechanical arms that not only allowed him hands that performed better than his organic ones, but that gave him a host of weapons and sensors. Upgrades and replacements can be done for all the limbs, organs, nerves, even the brain.

And thus, even a braindead human can live again, with an artificially enhanced brain in place of his old one. One can, alternatively, replace the body -- place the brain in a new mainframe. Any form that you desire.

Anything about them! None of that stuff exits in my world. Not yet, anyway. It would be awesome if it did.

But can you call them the same person if you replace their brain?

Depends. Sometimes they're sheep.

Zombie sheep? Dude, do they go for brains too?

Rabid zombie sheep. One step better than the regular garden variety of zombie sheep.

I thought a part of being a zombie already means you spread your zombie germs.
