I have successfully completed Firefighter 2 with the second highest grade in the class. I am now one step closer to being eligible for an engine assignment at work. My captain will be pleased. I must, however, wash my funk nasty gear, which smells like a truly unholy mixture of accumulated sweat, smoke, and my own personal brand of man-stench. This delightful stew of scents has built up over the course of two weeks in a combined total of something like 15-20 house fires simulations. Yummy.
In less enthusiastic news, I get to be miserable for a night at Stephanie's house in Philly. My allergy to pets is getting worse. If I walk into someone's house on a call, I can tell within 30 seconds whether or not they have pets because I'll start sneezing non-stop and basically become useless for anything beyond immediately carrying the patient out of the house. If it is a well kept house, my misery is reduced to only itchy eyes and mild sinus congestion.
So yay for that.
I rearranged the apartment, turning what was previously the office into a space which will be Stephanie's room/spare bedroom. We're going to get a futon for people to crash on when they come over. I do not feel any better about the moving in situation or the relationship situation, but I do feel somewhat productive after completely redoing my room. I feel more like I have something that is personalized - something that belongs to me. I need stuff to hang on the walls.
The biggest news is that I'm getting a motorcycle. Hells yeah. I've wanted one for a while, and was about to purchase one prior to taking my job with the county. I called it off since I had to move. But, a friend at work is selling his
Honda VFR750 (same color but not the exact bike. I'll get a pic when I go to his house in a couple days to check it out.) It's a good entry level bike, which is what I need at the moment. Maybe I'll upgrade someday in the future. Totally psyched about it, even though Stephanie said she refuses to ride behind me on it. Her loss.
But, I'm getting a bike! Booyah.
Anyways, that's all for now. I'm off like a prom dress.
