Heh, yeah, that confused me SO MUCH. It was my first DC series, so I turned to Google because I was worried they'd left a few issues out of the trade. Then I was like " ... the hell? You could have spent an extra 9 words mentioning how the timeline's jumped ahead a year.". You'll LOVE the fourth trade, Andreyko writes really, really, REALLY good Diana.

Thanks for asking the Wondy and Connor question! I'm ... a bit terrified, really, but slightly hopeful Kyle might be one of those 90's characters, because I don't think Connor's interacted with any of them besides Kyle.

Aw, Young Avengers. The series that got me into Marvel and comics <3.

And there goes 50% of why I bother going to Newsarama. They're LYING LIARS WHO LIE!

Yeah, can't wait for Diana. I think what Bagley said was really rushed and confusing, so it's kinda understandable 'Rama misinterpreted it, according to Sattler.

The material in the fourth trade was really good, yeah. Some of it felt a bit fan-servicey, but the characterization was strong, and it felt like a nice, realistic extension to that part of Wonder Woman's character arc.

The fifth trade, unfortunately, wasn't as good--at least, not when I read it monthly. I love Gaydos, and I thought that his art would be perfect for Manhunter, but for some reason it just didn't fit--at least, not with the initial storyline that Andreyko chose to tell there. It probably would've been much better with the abortion storyline (that, unfortunately, probably won't ever be told), and with what little he got to draw of the final two issues. But I think that the first several issues in the fifth trade were the major weak point of the series.

What do you mean by fanservicey?

I think that Matters of Choice might be told. Totally going to write a letter to DC, hinting that hey, know what might make a great OGN? Also, totally agree that Gaydos was a bad choice. He's a good artist, but a bad superhero artist. There's a reason why they didn't use him for action scenes in Alias, or why he was given the issue of New Avengers that focused upon Jessica and Luke's relationship.

It's been awhile since I've read that Manhunter story, so I don't have the examples fresh in my mind, but...

Well, I don't mean T&A fanservice, or anything like that. But I mean more along the lines of "Hey guys, isn't this cool? Look, we know that it's cool". It was the same complaint that I had against the "Blue and Gold" arc of Booster Gold, although in the latter, they focused too much on the "Isn't this cool?" moments, to the detriment of the story. Manhunter's story didn't suffer, so the fan servicey stuff was just a minor quirk.
