Sooo. I want to thank everyone for their kind words when I was sad yesterday. I feel better now! Still somewhat lost or whatever you would call it, but I've been reading and scrolling through scholarships, and I helped out at Animal Compassion this morning (there were ADORABLE puppies) so...
I see a scholarship that seems up my alley, where you just write a story that can be about anything, just as long as it's fantasy, science fiction, or "dark fantasy" (what the hell is dark fantasy? Do you read it in dim light or is there a different category for fantasies full of blood and guts and "mature content"?) I had an idea about making a story of a modern day Cassandra (the Greek myth lady, who saw the future but no one believed her even as they cleared away the ashes and blood of their own ruin...okay, Batgirl: Year One is forever in my head) According to Wikipedia this has been done before, but I got the idea too, so nyah. So maybe I'll do that concept for my story.
I watched the second episode of BoP. I will admit I squealed when Barbara said to Helena, "Dick Grayson. Tim Drake. Jason Todd...blahblahblah it's a legacy." I wasn't expecting for all three Robins to exist in this continuity (though that raises the question of WHERE ARE THEY NOW. ...They're probably dead, aren't they? Sigh.) Of course, if Jason met the same fate in this continuity as he did in the regular one, it is hilarious Babs would bring him up as an inspirational example. I'd expect Helena to make a snarky comment about that, or about "Oh, Dick Grayson, is that the one you banged?"
I have to admit, Oracle is pretty damn awesome in the show. Probably I'm biased because she's the closest to her comic book counterpart. Faux!Helena is growing on me. Though seriously, I wish she had her crossbow. That would have been so cool to see live action. I love crossbows.
However, there have been two shower scenes in two episodes (though the first one with Babs wasn't too gratuitous, at least) in two episodes. That's really subtle. Also, what the hell was Helena wearing to her THERAPY session? Let me see if I can find a screenshot...okay, I can't, but it was like a miniskirt and a really weird belly shirt, and looked so ridiculous I could only think she was trying to persuade Harley to have sex with her.
Seriously, why be true to the source material only in regards to cheesecake and impractical clothing?
Ah well, at least that detective guy was all shirtless, so equal opportunity and stuff.
Also, the actress who plays Harley is good at acting evil, but I'm sorry, I cannot take her seriously because I just think back to BTAS and giggle.
It didn't help that she actually referred to the Joker as "Mister J" in this ep.
And she was like about to lick Slick's face or whatever, that was weird.
Still, I remain entertained, if not always in the sense they want me to be.
