DC Comics vs Asian Americans

So,a casual observer might be inclined to think-- what does DC have against Asians?

Cassandra Cain is currently stuck in limbo after having her character utterly crapped on for the longest time- evil, then given a terrible miniseries by the guy who turned her evil- and her role's been taken over by her white best friend.

You know, I think a part of DC's problem is they've got such a small audience in the first place. If they had a bigger audience, you could potentially be publishing stories about Jaime Reyes and Ted Kord simultaneously. Cass and Babs and Steph could all have their own solo titles, and every frickin' Green Lantern could have their own.

But as it is, there's only so much their base of readers can support, there's only so much they can afford or be convinced to buy. So in the minds of the editors at DC, they probably figure they have to pick certain characters over other ones, and inevitably they choose whichever one they think will sell well.

Of course, I also think that sometimes it might be better for them to just permanently retire some of the old white dude characters, like Hal Jordan (which they did do for a while, with him and Barry Allen). I mean, at the very least, they should've had the Green Lantern starring John Stewart instead of Hal Jordan. John gets wider recognition due to being the main GL in the DCAU, after all.

(Also, they totally should've just had a Batgirl/Spoiler series.)

I am absolutely going to call them out on this in the Heroes Con panel

If Didio is there, be sure to ask him when we'll be seeing Cass. I asked him at Fan Expo last summer, and that was when he said 2010.
