I'm not sure where the idea to use a taste came from... It may have been this vision stuck in my head, Loki standing on top of that tower, watching the world collapse around him and the air heavy with dust from buildings, blood and ashes from bodies ^.^" Or maybe I was just looking at the cover of "Wormwood" by Poppy Z. Brite while I wrote LOL

Yes, that's exactly the image I had in mind! :) I don't know why I fell back on this old fantasy concept, that the king is the land and vice versa, but I needed a catalyst for his 'instant-redemption' aside from being (mostly) controlled by Thanos... Of course it's more complex than that, but if Loki wins anything at all, he has to struggle before claiming it.

...no, not quite. I think this Loki could bear to be all alone, though in the end, it would make him so bitter that he would be driven genuinely mad. But here, he acts more as the good king he could have been and because out of possessiveness. These people are HIS now - though what drives him first is simply the screaming child. Father's instinct, with a dash of resignation and suicidal thoughts. Though we see that he pulls through almost immediately.

Thank you! Considering that I know no more about Thanos than what you told me about him, I guess I should credit you XD But I thought that he would have to admire anyone who - besides himself - courts Death, and Loki certainly does it on a grand scale and with fireworks :)

I thought I should try something new about the Clint/Loki pairing. The whole concept that Thanos outright controlled Loki is a new angle I'm working, although it pops up very often in other FFs (I did a big search over on AO3 for quality Avengers FFs and found quite a boatload ^o^); that way, with him shielding Clint's mind to the point where they know each others life's story out of necessity and become 'shield brothers' - well, it's a whole new and deep connection, one I don't need to put too many words into building up to make the reader understand it. - At least I hope ^-^"

I grinned too, writing it; it's so painfully LOKI, with laser-guided karma striking ^.^" I know that line wasn't subtle, but talking in circles around someone a hairs breadth away from utter panic didn't seem to be a good idea to me. And the officer... Well, I actually don't think it is too far fetched if no one of the survivors knows about Loki. I mean: how great are the chances that people survived who have seen him riding with the Chitauri? Well, you'll see later :)

BTW: Do people know about S.H.I.E.L.D - what do you think?

Now now, don't be so negative, that is only part 1 of at least 3 and I love my HEA, after all. Besides, read the last line of the summary... *hint hint* ;)

Thank you! *purr purr* - Stay tuned! I hope I can begin with the second part soon-ish; because I have finished my Mentalist MiniBang; go me LOL

PS: I've got... well, not your birthday FF, but a... summary for the not yet written fanfiction you asked me for °_0 Yes, don't ask me, my muse is nuts. Anyway - give me the all clear if you like it, okay?

Summary: Clint is no god of anything and as mortal as they come, but he'll be damned if he let's a bunch of misfits get away with kidnapping his betrothed.
...especially one Clint has grown so accustomed to that Loki's archaic court-speech has creeped its way into his own vocabulary. - Well, better that than calling it 'being madly in love'.
Or in less words: Loki has fun; Clint is a badass.

What do you say? Granted, it's quite a bit removed from your prompt, but... okay? Yes? No? Give me a holler!

Maybe it was the cover and the vision? ;) My mind is always mixing such things up in one giant cauldron...

I really like this old fantasy concept - which by the way wasn't all that fantasy. Around 2000 years ago the celtish people really believed that. So much that dead kings were buried at the edge of the kingdom, so that they could protect the frontier. When I learned of it, I found this very interesting.

Instinct and possessiveness - well, not exactly the most heroic traits, but they are what Loki has. ^^ Oh, and pride of course. No one kills HIS people, but himself. XD

About Thanos and Loki... am I the only one who regularly gets this image? Hela, goddess of death = Death = the one Thanos courts -> Thanos asks LOKI for the hand of his daughter. Loki refuses. Thanos in a rage promises Loki, that no one will respect him ever again... -> Posessing Loki and attack on Earth.
Avengers: Moment, the whole attack on earth was a frigging family crisis?!
Thor: Brother, when they love each other you should have said yes!
Loki: He's not worth my beautiful daughter!!!

Yes, the whole "Thanos controlled Loki"-angle is at the moment nearly the most popular on AO3. I think the reason for it, is a combination of the fact htat it makes more sense and the fact that most fans acutally like Loki thanks to the movie "Thor".
Him shielding Clint is an interesting concept... but knowing the whole live of a thousand year old god as to be a pretty special rush. ;) And did he only shield Clint? What about the others?

Oh, it wasn't subtle, but it got the point across. ^^ The scene has kind of the feeling: "Right, okay, I save them, they shoot me as a thank you. Of course."
"laser-guided karma": *lol* Yes. Loki's karma really is special. It's as if he has several life sin which fucked everything over and now it all comes back to him. (waaaaaiiit... wasn't there a life cycle of the Asgardian gods in the comic that was always repeating? <.<)

Riding witht he Chitauri. I don't think too many. The greater danger were probably cameras and Stuttgard.

Well, about SHIELD, I'm pretty much with the comics. In the beginning it's secret, but later they become public to "protect" the population against the mutants (X-Men). When Avengers happened though, they are still secret.

*scroll* *reads summary* *clutches the last sentence* Well... sometimes Loki has to win, right? In mythology he alway balanced the scales too...

Oh, yes, I like that summary. :D Don't worry about your muses strangeness. If she works like that, she works like that.
But the summary is really nice. Clint to the rescue!!! :D somehow I can see the kidnappers expecting anything, just not this.
Betrothed - is a nice word. Go Clint, for using it.
Am I right that this is a funny fic? Because I'm sure Loki makes his kidnappers life hell, while Clint... proves that yes, he has a right for the god of mischief, and if it's just proven in the utter amount of destruction he causes to the ones who dared to hurt Loki!!

More? Please?

Perhaps; I'm just glad that I bought the book, without it, I would never even know what "Wormwood" is and that it's so bitter medicine it made people gag.

Interesting, I didn't know that that belief is rooted in actual history. I don't know where I even picked it up from, because it's not part of any of the fantasy books I've ever read.

Thanos, the son-in-law to Loki? What a nightmare and I doubt Hel would be pleased. Though Thanos could offer Midgard and Asgard as dowry, maybe than Loki would agree XD

It was that or losing his mind, and Clint is nothing but pragmatic, I think. What others? Selvik, as stated in the FF, is already burned out, since Loki had to control him over a great distance for a longer time and the agent he controlled died in the tunnel, if I'm not mistaken. The mercenaries were paid.

Ragnarök repeats itself also... Though I find it pretty unfair; Loki seems so forced into his role as the villain - I don't like it. Talk about sympathy for the devil LOL

Yeah, but with all the technology gone or useless without electricity (aside from the generator in Stark's tower) and Stuttgart no longer existing, well ^-^"

Hm, okay, then I will use the Secret Service/special task force/CIA angle...

Actually, Loki is... Whoops, no spoilers for you XD I'm glad you approve! And yes, it's a more funny FF; I'll try to write it as soon as possible... Well, you know how it goes *facepalm*
