This comment makes me really happy - all the things you picked up on; it seems as if I managed to stay in character for both Charlie and Wade! ^o^ Which is a feat! While Charlie is easy to figure out, with his single-minded determination, amorality but fierce loyalty to Wade and him alone, Wade is a wild card; you never really know what drives him, what is a lie or truth.
Interesting that you would say 'gospel'. - Because Wade has not only the quickest draw this side from Texas, he can exchange Bible quotes with the best of them ^-^
Both his control over his men and the sketching thing is canon, in fact, the first time you'll see him he's sitting on horseback, drawing a hawk.
Guns - no clue about those, but luckily, there is a Wiki dedicated to the weapons used in movies.
Here, Ben Wade's Hand of God: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qSUL3dIwKIo/TJMsutK6NFI/AAAAAAAAEoQ/75N_ejqZ9Uw/s1600/ColtSAA_HandOfGod.jpg

I won't say anything to the last assessment before you've seen the movie :)
PS: When you've seen the movie, read this - http://internationalpsychoanalysis.net/2008/06/16/310-to-yuma-creating-a-herovillain/
I don't agree with the conclusion the psychologist comes to in the end, but this character analysis offers really in-depth insight into both Wade and the farmer, Dan Evans.
