You guys need to CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES. It's NOT going to go away without grass roots reaction. The problem is Congress wrote the law and forced the CPSC to implement it before the regulations were written. These regulations are not written by people who are familiar with manufacturing and thus, impose unnecessary burdens. Basically, these guys signed it cause it's a feel-good piece of legislation "save the children" but now as a result they are going to be DESTROYING books, toys, clothes and filling our landfills because of their idiocy!
Amazon has already been sending vendors emails to this effect - personally, I'm amazed there hasnt been more reaction. Everyone hides their head in the sand like "maybe it wont happen" - but I'm seeing all the artists close shop, I'm seeing toy stores and consignment stores selling everything off with the expectation that they will be gone next month... If this issue had been about gun restrictions then people would have been rioting in the streets. Instead it just affects:toys, jewelry, clothing, books, room decor, furniture, hair ties, educational aides..the list goes on and on! Even the little companies that print workbooks for classrooms - if they print on the same kind of paper, the same day, on the same printing press, with the exact same ink, but they print a math book and then a science book, they are still expected to pay the 4k it costs for each, to have BOTH "lines" of "product" shipped to a lead testing facility. This law is COMPLETELY ABSURD!!!
