Announcing The Matchmaking Challenge--banners into fic

Aug 03, 2008 05:57

Announcing our new beautiful layout from badbadpixie which means...new challenge here on neverenough_bj!

The Matchmaking Challenge: Banners into Fiction kicks off on September 15th for writers...but artists may begin submitting banners ASAP and make as many as you like.

Here is how it will work: first, artists submit BLANK-of-text fic banner/s which I will put in one post so writers may find them. The banners should all incorporate BJ in some manner but it can be in any fashion--AU setting or canon moment--that an artist hopes to see realized through fiction.

Writers look through them and choose a banner/s that they want to write something for. It does not matter if more than one writer chooses the same banner as all writers create different stories. Artists will personalize the banners with a writer's fic title and writer's name to go with their story once they have been 'matched' by the mods.

How did this one come about? Well, a long time ago in my previous fandom, I took part in a banner-to-fic challenge and really loved it! So I always wanted to do one. (For the banner/fic piece I did back then--the banner was gorgeous--see: here.) And then when we were doing our very first challenge here on neverenough_bj, badbadpixie and I had a personal banner-to-fic challenge which you can see here. She sent me a bunch of blank banners featuring Brian and Justin and I had to incorporate them somehow into the story! That inspired us to want to do a banner challenge for the fall since we had such fun.

What we need now are LOTS of different banners from our artists! The more we have, the better, and as soon as possible so that writers may begin to think about what they may be inspired to write--and claim their banners. So please make us lots!

And to start you all off: this is the community icon for challenge #4 which participants and readers are welcome to snag and use. Please credit badbadpixie if you take it:

The banner challenge kicks off September 15, 2008 for our writers. Until then, we will be continuing with our 'through the eyes of challenge.'
