Hey, I was wondering in Jarod had talked to you at all about OPSEC yet. :) I'm just worried because you mention where he is in this post, which is public, and that's generally frowned upon. I'm not trying to be a Bossy Betty or anything, I just didnt' know if anyone had told you about it yet. Zuzus, Thank you for your post. I am glad that you are informed about basic OPSEC. However, I have not ever given any information over the phone or through e-mail that is considered sensitive. As far as I know, there are not many people on the face of the planet that don't know we are in Fallujah. It is on the news daily, and our enemy knows we are here. In the post there may have been some misuse of basic millitary terms, but nothing that would be considered a security breech. I am glad that you are worried about the safety of our Marines and Soldiers, but I assure you that most of the armed forces in Iraq do not disclose any sensitive information. I mainly just wanted to share the information with Ande because I thought it might be new to her. I know before I had to go to all the briefings and everything I didn't know what was okay to say, and what wasn't. This way she will be all set. :)

Thank you for your concern. I can assure you that I never have anything but the safety and security of these guys in mind, and I will always exercise discretion in what I choose to say. I don't know what the reporters in the UK are saying about all this... but here it is all over the news, and certainly is not a big secret. The US Forces have been conducting air strikes in Fallujah all week, and the reports of the civilian casualties are everywhere. What they fail to mention on the news sometimes are how many incoming attacks that happen that we just sit back and watch. If you know anything about the Marine Corps, them taking the offensive after a certain period of time, is no surprise. This is not news, this is not sensitive information, this is just a sensitive third party supporting her Marine from the homefront. I suspect that if Gavin were under attack daily, the tone of your posts would change a little too. Jarod will be home soon, but these exchanges will continue for a long time to come. Yeah, I hope I didn't offend you at all, because that wasn't my intent by any means. I totally understand wanting to offer support. :) The only reason I brought it up is because, after you are married, they make you go to briefings on OPSEC specifically. It's shoved down our throats a lot, so I just wanted to share the information with you since it applies to you now too!

We don't get as much news coverage on the local stations about the US specifically, so I think that's why I didn't realize it was such common knowledge. They mainly talk about their own military, or Bush, haha.

Again, I hope what I said didn't come across as rude or bossy or anything. It was mostly for future reference.
