On the other side of the control room, the extravagant double doors that ought to lead out of the TARDIS swing open, revealing a wall of dirt, that collapses and begins to flow into the room.

I was thinking of it in terms of being completely out of the control of the deities but you could be right... Why would they stage that? What purpose would that serve? Why would they want us to think that they didn't have complete control?
