A truly unfortunate state of affairs, as I am fairly certain I am, overall, doing a better job at his life than he is.

Ah, well, I tend to view time as very...fluid, so your existence within it was not the issue. It was merely your phrasing.
Hmm...I would advise against leaving a message for your past self, however. It could potentially create quite a paradox
